CTD what worked for me

Featured Replies

After 6 hours downloading and install i had very poor performance from the sim

constant CTD every 5-10 mins, as many of you here have experinced. This lasted all day Wednesday, very frustrating. lots of stutters then more CTD.

What i did was disable AI traffic  disable POI (far to many). for graphics, set to default for both PC and VR, render scale at 80 for VR, vol clouds at high

since doing that, no more CTD, sim now very smooth and playable, i tested on different aircraft and cities (PMDG DC 6 full IFR flight, just amazing)

so for the last 24 hours, zero problems. Granted the image is not as sharp as before, but no stutters at all and no CTD

i believe for whatever reason setting the graphics to default was the solution for me. i just hope it lasts, and while i was cursing Asbo and MS at first, all seems well now

seems to simple a fix even to me, give it a go guys, hope it works for you, but i feel it all depends so much on PC specs

i have a middle of the road setup. GT1080 TI, Ryzen 7 1700x, 48GB ram

Cheers

Glad you seem to be back up and running!

Yeah, I tend to leave the nVidia control panel to default settings as well.  Especially if I'm troubleshooting a problem.  I have a 1080ti just like you.  Anyway as Devon said I'm glad you fixed it.

There's a temptation to change things like the Power setting (Prefer Max Performance) but I only do that once I am positive I have a stable setup going.

Happy you're back in the cockpit OP.   I have a lower end system and I'm wondering after tonight if some of these CTD issues aren't related to related to what the users previous graphics settings were before the update.  I've always capped my FPS and bumped render to scale to work my gpu, but I noticed tonight that if I uncapped frames my cpu/gpu received a much bigger workout than pre-SU5 - things got hot!

Haven't posted here in ages, but good see Rhett and Devon still going strong.   Up until 7 months ago I was using a heavily self modified version of Rhett's KSTL from back in the days.   Time marches on.......

It was the AI traffic only, you can reset all the others 🙂

I don't know about going strong, but I'm going.  Wow that WAS a long time ago.  It took me forever to create that scenery.  I only wish I had that kind of time these days.  Glad you were able to use it for as long as you did.

I agree, I did the same, unlinked all my liveries for all planes (used by AI), and I am in the process of re-linking them 5 by 5 to detect the culprits. No CTD since then and superb flights.
