Im reading posts about editing CFG files, and reversing settings. I mean, what?! 

My grandson who is an avid gamer ( not flight sims) and has a $3700 PC, visited last evening, and I showed him MSFS 2020, with the DC6 approaching London City airport. He looked at it for about 1 minute and said to me " What did you do to it, it looked way better the last time I saw it 3 weeks ago?"... I then told him about SU5, and he said " Wow, that's a bummer"....

I can so clearly recall when Microsoft pulled the plug on MS Flight. One day they were trying to sell add ons for it, and the next day they post that it is cancelled. Just like flicking a switch from on to off.

Come on Bob, Im sure you are aware companies need to generate enough revenue to keep stockholders happy, otherwise, as you put it, they will flick the switch from on to off to whatever goods or services they offer.

Oh I totally agree with you. During my working career I worked for some of the largest companies in the world, for many years.  I am well aware of how they operate and how they can shut things down in a heartbeat, if they see the trend starting to go in the wrong direction. That is what happened to MS Flight, FSW, FSX, and it could easily happen to MSFS. If it happens to MSFS, you can kiss flying it goodbye, because without Microsoft support and servers, it's done for. At least with the other sims, when you own them, you can fly them anytime you you want, and you only have to update them if you  want to.

You have a good argument there, which I agree 100%

Guess what, I just looked at the MSFS forum, and X box users are already posting that they are having CTDs with the X Box  X..  They don't sound very happy about it.

Indeed.   And, contrary to the excessive negativity from some in this thread, and mutterings about "maybe in 2022", the plan is for that to start coming later this month.  That announcement also makes it clear that a number of the things people have gone seemingly unhinged ranting about as "evidence" that the sim was "dumbed down" for the XBox were either bugs that will be fixed -- and soon -- or, in one case, a legitimate attempt to improve cloud rendering that it's been decided after feedback needs more tweaking.   And options sliders will be provided for various settings, as people have been demanding.

Asobo sure are out of touch and obsessed with making an XBox game.

Well they had to completely nerf the System ram and Vram for the Xbone version so….

Well, I would rather be flying - but the positive side of SU5 is that I spend more time doing useful things while waiting for the hotfixes.
