Weird I just checked a AIG file on the AVSIM Library and it clearly states the following:

This package, and its contents, can not be redistributed in any way without the

author's explicit and written permission.

And still people get caught and cry it's AIG's fault, weird world...

Kind Regards,

Peter

I want to say it directly: unbelivable 🥵 from AIG side..

This packaged reuplaoded multiple files (not just AIGs) without premission. I explained the developer how to make his package "legal" again so it can still be mainted in the small form it has been uploaded now.

Perfectly reasonable from AIG actually.

ok I have 2 issues here...   whilst I completely agree that AIG does have the right to stop others using their files.. even if their "though shalt not" is locked behind a registration on their forum so most people that are not members of that forum will ever see it..  in fact. you can download files from AIG's site and there is no "though shalt not" in the file...  I have a bigger issue  and that is that so far 5 solutions of various types have been delivered using a few or some of AIG's files that work in the interim, and yet AIG still cannot get anything out there to help with AI traffic.  It's got to the stage where AIG keeps saying.. we want a perfect solution and its issues with the SDK.. but frankly.. these other systems HAVE worked in a limited way and been succesful.

Personally, I wish that AIG would a) work with some of these people who can obviously use the AIG files better than AIG can, and b) get something out there to help solve this problem.  After all..  yes, we would like the full AIG solution, and I will be happy to buy it when and IF it ever comes out, however, there is obviously NOTHING stopping them from releasing an interim now until they can get their final solution working as has been proved by many other people now.

I am really one of those people who abhors pirating in any sense and the use of files that others have built, however, it's getting to the stage where I can't help wondering if AIG put as much effort into releasing an interim product as they do in stopping other people doing so whether this situation wouldn't even have to exist as there would already be an AIG solution (mostly complete) already out there.

Agree with pretty much all of that.

But until they agree to work with other parties it's get permission or don't use their work. That's all I was saying.  That much is very reasonable.

I don't disagree unfortunately, however, I have now got to the stage of hoping somone else comes up with a solution to this, even if it's payware and not as comprehensive 🙂

1) There is a total legal way at the moment to install AI, you just have to do it yourself and it takes some time BUT it is possible without any major issues. But then the internal AI system of MSFS comes and will show you that it is still buged as hell....

2) Our conversion team is working hard on getting the models converted, but his takes time. We are currently in the process of fixing stuff for FSX models so we can use them as long as the conversion is not done. Issue here: MSFS has a few new issues causing CTDs and texture mismatches when using MDL files, so we have to find a workaround here, before we can actual release stuff.

3) Actual the rest is more or less done, just needs fine tuning 😉 As I said we aim for Q4 this year and until SU5 we where very well on track, but now we have to rework some parts again...

4) We are not talking here about OCI alone, AIM (the software providing OCI) needs to be MSFS ready as well this is also taking some time.

5) And then there is still AIGTC that needs to be MSFS ready as well, since BGL traffic will no longer be fully supported (at least this is what Jörg told me), we need to make sure the SimConnect based AI traffic is runnign fine.

As you can see: This is not just pack some FSX SimObjects and update some textues and as all of you now AIG has always put Quality before Quantitiy and this is taking time.

And as long as MSFS has some major issues only comming up becuase of AI, I have strong feelings against releasing cause we can not handle the amount of support request.

I couldn't have said it better.

If all freeware developers had the same mindset as AIG we wouldn't have Working Title, FBW and many other great cooperations of freeware for MSFS.

But why don't you just allow a freeware developer to do that work for once and for all for the benefit of the community. What issue do you have with allowing an imperfect freeware interim solution until you come up with your product?

The guys should ask before they do this! In ALL cases so far they did not ask before release and wonder why we react this way...

Personally,  I would be happy in the interim if someone just made a simple app which allows us to easily inject any liveries of our choosing,  into the sim to reskin all of the sim's default ai model liveries,   as well as the Aviator's club and Xbox liveries.

Replacing the default airliner skins and the aviators club / xbox skins would hold me over nicely until a full AIG solution.    I'd be able to add a few Airlines,  a couple of favorite skins,   and I'd be happy when I look out the window.    I don't need to see "World Travel Airlines" or "Orbit Airlines",  or "Xbox" ever again.

I agree with that of course.

So you will allow it if someone asks beforehand?

Important to get your facts straight before making comments which can lead to misguided thinking from others.

Quoted from Kaii on the AIG forum

"AIG can not grant premission to use our flightplans in any 3rd party addon that is not published under the "AIG-Banner", this is due a contract/agreement we have with our data-provider. By violating this we will get blocked from our main datasource, the result will be that we can no longer provide the amount and the quality of flightplans we did over the last years. We actual pay a lot of money each year to get the data and still releasing them for free.

We do not "shutdown" any other AI mod by purpose or to keep a monopoly on AI traffic, we do this to keep AIG alive as it is!"

Except, the one they just shut down didn't use AIG flightplans..  it left  the Online AI from microsoft to provide the flight data.. all the .to one did was use livery matching to display correct liveries, so no threat to AIG's data sources.

I still accept the premise that you shouldn't copy files, but AIG say no-one asked in advance to do this very simple interim solution, and yet talking to a couple of developers who have asked, the response is either NO or no-reply.
