August 20, 20214 yr Will I ever fly here? Curiosity says yes, maybe once or twice, but the completionist in me, that wants the whole world in my sim, appreciates detail in an area that would probably otherwise remain the barest of default. August 20, 20214 yr I did take a couple of flights aound Kabul and Bagram a few weeks ago in the sim. Like most people, I suspect, I had a lot of names and images in my head and thought it would be good to see what the landscape looks like. It is not the highest res scenery you'll see in the sim, but it's not bad either. The major thing for me though, was that it has made me want to visit more (in the sim of course, I'm not crazy), and it bought on a huge wave of sympathy within me for the poor folk out there. I am absolutely NOT going to say anything here about the history or current situation there, although I do have a lot of thoughts about it (I too am an avid reader of history), but my point is that something like the sim can actually be a good thing in terms of letting people see the world without looking at the political aspects. For some reason, Bing seems to have missed showing the borders on the ground - oh - I remember now, they're not actually there. Borders exist in people's heads, as do most aspects of politics and religion. Maybe, just maybe, it's possible to travel around anywhere in the (sim) world and realise that this is the only place we've got, it's a mighty fine place actually, but if we're not all a bit more careful we will f*** it up bad enough to make it unusable. I have no more to say. Ryzen 9 7900X, Corsair H150 AIO cooler, 64 Gb DDR5, Asus X670E Hero m/b, 3090ti, 13Tb NVMe, 8Tb SSD, 16Tb HD, 55" Philips 4k HDR monitor, EVGA 1600w ps, all in Corsair 7000D airflow case. Sims in use - 2020, 2024, XP-12 and -11, FSX/SE, P3Dv4.5 and v5.4. DCS and AFS2 installed but rarely used

I did exactly the same last weekend and found it rather educational.
