August 23, 20214 yr Just spotted courtesy of a notice on the AVSim front page that a model of the Caproni Vizzola C-22J Ventura is now available on Simmarket for just €9 + taxes I'd never heard of it before but it's a twin engine two seat jet trainer/observation aircraft that looks a little like a Cessna C-37/A-37. Definitely something a little different for people complaining it's all single engine props in MSFS right now so who feels like taking one for the team and trying it out ?
August 23, 20214 yr I fly the freeware FS9 version often. It was a really nice surprise for us FS9 guys who aren't really in anyone's development picture any more. Great VC. It will be a likely buy once I start using MSFS more.
August 23, 20214 yr Author Since no-one else is foolish enough I guess the testing is on me then.... Well she doesn't look that great - textures could really do with some work, but she's also €9 and for that I'll forgive quite a lot if she flies well and so far it really does seem like she does - like always I have no idea how this plane should fly but it's fun and it feels about right. Some interesting systems as well - no AP but there is a alterter that sends an audio signal when you reach a specified altitude, Also features Collins single display Comm and Nav radios with working Store and Recall for the Comm radios and To and From Radial info for the Nav radios. At $15-20 I'd maybe say give this a pass at least until it looks better but at this price it's different enough and fun enough to suggest it's well worth a look - plus if enough of us buy a copy maybe the dev will be able to give it the visual overhaul it deserves. August 24, 20214 yr I think this is a steal for 10 bucks. Cool instruments and flies great. // 5800X3D // RTX 3090 // 64GB RAM // HP REVERB G2 //
August 24, 20214 yr Chock, thanks for your reviews. I look forward to your opinion on the aircraft but I probably enjoy more your historical insight and the additional references to everything related. Much appreciated and very informative. Ryzen 9800X3D, RTX 5090, 64GB, Win 11. MSFS2020. Moza, MFG, Fulcrum & Virpil controllers. Quest 3 for VR.
August 24, 20214 yr Author This and the Grob coming out within a few days of each other make it difficult to decide what I want to fly 🙂
August 24, 20214 yr For those interested, some historical and technical data on that aircraft is shown on my web site here: https://www.machdiamonds.com/caproni.html Most of the data on that page was sent to me by the designer of the C-22J, including the flight manual.

August 24, 20214 yr Great review as always, @Chock, thank you for your service. This definitely looks like a lot of fun, especially for a tenner or so. One thing that I sometimes struggle with with your reviews -- and this is not at all a criticism, just a comment on my own personal perception -- is that either due to your in-game settings or the rendering you do for Youtube it can be a bit hard to get a read on image quality, especially how something would look at 4k. This one in particular looks like it may be a bit sub-MSFS-par inside; a lot of things have a "low resolution grainy photo texture" look that reminds me of FS9-era models. It even seems like a few things (perhaps the parking brake knob?) have baked in highlights/shadows on them that clash with the lighting in the game. Also, from what I can see, looks like the panel has the ol "screws that only exist on the texture" look to them, which means as your perspective shifts they look a bit odd. These are not game-breakers, especially for the amount of fun this seems to pack into the price, but it'd be good to know what I'm getting into before I push the purchase button. Would you say on the whole that that's a fair assessment of the interior texture quality, or is it more an aspect of game settings or video rendering? Either way, thanks again, always appreciate your reviews and your very non-youtuber review style. 😄 Edited August 24, 20214 yr by kaosfere
August 25, 20214 yr Into the blue just did a review on this, looks like a pretty fun ride for the price. I have been wanting a jet to rip around low level in.
August 25, 20214 yr I purchased this. Don't regret - fun flying low and fast around scenery - enjoying immensely as something a little different - try taking it through the valleys of Mountains - New Zealand Southern Alps spring to mind!! Yes, the texture could do with a little update - but honestly, not really bothered because of the fun factor - and speed brakes are must for landing - she comes in too fast otherwise.

Absolutely agree about the airbrakes - you can really feel the glider heritage when you try losing altitude to bring her into land.
August 26, 20214 yr This thing is awesome! I am so picky when it comes to add on aircraft. This is a seriously fun little jet. The flight model is really nice. It feels very realistic... it sort of falls into place if that makes sense. And you need to stay ahead of it... feels like a jet of this type should. Some airplanes just feel right, like you are actually flying and this fits the bill. The sounds are great, although I had to turn the environment noise way down because the wind noise is nice, but loud. The lighting is really good. Visibility is fantastic. Makes this a great jet to blast around in low level and see the sights, but still get where you are going. Some of the textures are not great, indeed. But I don't think it takes away from the jet. And honestly, it is 9 euros... priced right. If you want a light jet to have some fun in, you can't go wrong.

But, I think it is overall not too bad. I am super critical of addon airplanes, and this gets a pass from me. Other than those texture issues it is very well done. For the price, I think its fair.
