August 25, 20214 yr Hi Guys, Apologies for probably wasting most everyone's time on a such a basic newbie question but I can't find anything in 40 pages of search results for Garmin tutorial that meets the start to finish type of understanding I am looking for, you know, a comprehensive user manual like I have for my chart plotter on the boat. Yes there are tutorials for specific aspects but in many cases seem to imply prior knowledge or other fundamental understanding of the instrument to start with. I'm sure it's not that hard, but its just confusing, not knowing where to start. I tried WT https://www.workingtitle.aero/packages/g1000/ but again it seemed to imply you know what your after and I didn't see any tutorials there. I'm not sure that was the correct site. Anyway, I'm at my wits end and thought I would just ask. You're a great bunch of guys and I'm sure someone will push me in the right direction, or show me the door 🙂. Thanks guys. Terry No. No, Mav, this is not a good idea. Sorry Goose, but it's time to buzz the tower! August 25, 20214 yr I downloaded a manual from the net for the Garmin in the premium deluxe C172 and it's a lot to read and take in. There are some Youtube turorials that I found useful if you search for which specific Garmin model you want ( by kip on the ground). I had to watch them a couple of times before it sank in. August 25, 20214 yr X-Plane comes with excellent Garmin tutorials. Make a Google search, and they are (officially, not pirated) available for download, even if you don't own X-Plane. Of course the functions actually implemented may be different. August 25, 20214 yr Have you tried the Cockpit Reference Guide? Not sure how much actually applies to the MSFS implementation but maybe a place to start if you haven't seen it already. http://static.garmin.com/pumac/190-00384-13_0B_Web.pdf Brian W KPAE
August 25, 20214 yr One thing I love about the new Working Title Garmin NXI is that you can use your keyboard instead of the Garmin FMS knobs to input waypoints. Side note: I think you can use keyboard input it in the Aviat Husky, If memory serves. But that uses a different Garmin. Edited August 25, 20214 yr by Waldo Pepper
August 26, 20214 yr Author Well thankyou everyone. Amazing responses and all of them extremely helpful. We are in lockdown in Auckland at the moment so courtesy of you guys, rather than just a disparate array of unconnected You Tube videos, I now have something very tangible to digest and all in different formats. Keep safe guys and thanks again!! Terry No. No, Mav, this is not a good idea. Sorry Goose, but it's time to buzz the tower!
