September 8, 20214 yr Each time I start I get this message since WU6 and asks if I want to start in safe or normal mode. Problem is I ended sim normally so not sure why I am getting this message? No issues once load sim normally but message is annoying. Anyone have solution or at least know problem?

Fortunately I can still opt for "normal". I hope this option will not be gone after the next SU. September 8, 20214 yr Do you have any mods or items in your community folder? The message has to do with something with possible incompatibility. It might work on normal if you don't use that mod, but doesn't mean the system didn't see it as a possible issue. Try with a base MSFS version with no mods and and empty community folder to see if you still get the error.

Odd: Second time I tried with vanilla no message. So perhaps it is an addon. Now if MSFS could only identify the addon(s) lol. Edited September 8, 20214 yr by knich
September 8, 20214 yr Check your Windows Reliability Monitor. Does it indicate that there was a crash there? If so it will give details of the crash. I used to get that often in P3D. On exiting the sim normally, all appeared good but the Reliability Monitor showed that the sim was actually crashing on exit. Can’t recall the solution though. It could be an add-on or plug in (simlink) that is holding on and not shutting down with the sim. September 9, 20214 yr Also, this is useful. I used the below guide to create a Reliability Monitor shortcut. I then add the shortcut to the start menu as a tile for instant access.. It is then a case of clicking Windows icon bottom left and this button. Saves a few clicks. This is a nice tool to monitor your systems “health” and gives easy access to details about any CTD’s, failed Windows updates etc. https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/75768-create-reliability-monitor-shortcut-windows-10-a.html GregH Intel Core i7 14700K / Palit RTX4070Ti Super OC / Corsair 32GB DDR5 6000 MHz / MSI Z790 M/board / Corsair NVMe 9500 read, 8500 write / Corsair PSU1200W / CH Products Yoke, Pedals & Quad; Airbus Side Stick, Airbus Quadrant / TrackIR, 32” 4K 144hz 1ms Monitor
September 9, 20214 yr For those having the issue where Safe Mode shows up every time you start MSFS, are you starting it from a desktop (or start menu) shortcut? ...jim ASUS Prime Z790-E, Intel i9 13900K, 32Gb DDR5 Ram, Nvidia 3090 24Gb, Samsung 970 EVO Plus 500 GB and 1 TB, Samsung Odyssey G9 Ultrawide 49" G-SYNC Monitor.
September 9, 20214 yr From a shortcut with the -fastlaunch option. I also don't get the message every time, just when MS pleases to annoy me. September 9, 20214 yr I assume this "Safe Mode" message is only appearing after MSFS was shut down via the [X] button (admittedly a normally "safe" way to shutdown Windows applications). I never see this message but always exit MSFS via the "Quit to Desktop" menu option at the main menu of MSFS. I have know idea if this is a bug or a curious design choice by Asobo to treat exiting the sim via the window [X] button as a sim crash...
