Custom Cockpit Views Issues

Featured Replies

Guys, I'm really trying to love MSFS2020 but the keyboard shortcuts have been gaslighting me nonstop.

One of THE MOST important features I use in all flight sims is quick look cockpit views using the numpad numbers. I have assigned:

1) Ctrl+[numpad 4] -> save custom cockpit view 4 (main PFD)
2) Ctrl+[numpad 8] -> save custom cockpit view 8 (overhead panel
3) etc, etc

Afterwards, pressing [numpad 8] quickly moves the cockpit camera to the overhead panel perfectly! Alright! But pressing [numpad 4] moves the camera forward and up into the ceiling! No matter how many ways I try to save the forward cockpit view to numpad 4 it throws it into the ceiling. This happens on SOME of my planes, but not others, so it's no even consistent. I'm hoping it's a setting issue that other people have run into and know how to fix 🙂

Here are screenshots.

I use the default:  CTRL+ALT+n to save a view,  ALT+n to recall a view.

Try it!

Are you making a different profile for each  aircraft, that is the way I do it. Then when you change aircraft you have to switch the profile for the controllers you are using.

do the custom cockpit views not save on a per-plane basis?

What I mentioned, is specific to each aircraft.

i''m pressing save custom cockpit view with the keys shown in the screenshot.

but then recalling that view just doesn't work. it's driving me nuts i dont understand why it's not working. it keeps putting the camera in weird places that i never assigned.

Understand... try my (default) key shortcuts and report back.

BTW, I use the number keys at the top of the keyboard..

Yes, you are correct, I was thinking of something else.

ok tried your way. here is what happened:

1) Saved new key commands as instructed:

2) saved custom camera 4 here:

3) moved camera to other side of cockpit and attempted to load custom camera 4 view:

4) pressing Alt+4 did nothing at all. the camera did not move back to custom location 😞

Hmm.. I did not do the first part... the key commands were already the default, so I did not "assign" them.

BTW, I do sometimes have to push the ALT+n keys twice to recall the view... which I consider a bug in MSFS.

I have the same problem.  Must be the view set up by the developer. It’s only a problem on some planes.  I tried deleting the cameras.cfg but that didn’t help.
I can’t figure it out either if that makes you feel any better.

that does make me feel better. and exactly, it works fine for some planes but goes completely wonky for others it makes no sense. Unfortunately the plane it's going wonky on is the new expensive CRJ whcih is really bottoming out my play experience.

i consider custom camera views absolutely necessary for a high-workload flight and in its current state i'm unable to achieve that. not sure what else to do

UPDATE: well guess what, I loaded up MSFS2020 to try again and now, unexplainably, IT WORKS! I'm able to save and load custom cockpit views per usual.

I'm thinking that possibly loading different planes in a single playthrough caused issues. I loaded up the CRJ first thing and the cameras are behaving just ifne now. I'm not sure if this is what was causing it but I'll keep a look out and report back. Either way, MSFS2020 def has some bugs deeps down...

The one thing that drives me nuts about the custom views is they don’t save exactly how you had the view when you save them. I.e. get the view perfect with for example the A320 (FBW or default doesn’t matter) where the bottom of the PFD is right at the bottom of the screen and save it. then when pressing the keybind for that custom view after CTRL-Spacebar to reset to default it will actually move forward and down slightly vs where I saved it. So now that perfect PFD alignment is off and stuff is off the screen. I used the A320 in this example just for ease of describing one scenario but any aircraft I save a view in does something similar.
