Steam file verification deleted my  game

A warning to anyone thinking of using steam verify files!

I had this once, this was enough. Can't be repeated often enough.

Kind regards, Michael

Had this happen back about a year ago. Prior to the -fastlaunch flag being known I moved the Logo animation files from their normal location to help FS start faster. Didn't work, but in the process of putting them back I accidentally deleted them. "Use the steam file verify" to get them back was the suggestion. All it did was wipe the FS install folder clean so I had to reinstall the sim. 😢 Not Fun.

Guess that means it's one of those things that is not fixed, if it's still happening.

Yes, that caught me out once. Only with msfs. all other games on steam don't seem to disappear as MSFS did.

It's not your standard Steam Install remember so it's not as if anything needs to be "fixed" as such, more so the convoluted installation of the base game is the main issue but that's unlikely to change.

I've had this happen with a couple other "non Steam" like games in the past, once you've verified once you'll never do it again!

Pico Neo3 Link VR - Windows 11 64bit, Gigabyte Z590 Aorus Elite Mobo, i7-10700KF CPU, Gigabyte RX 9070 XT OC 16gb (AMD GPU), 32gig Corsair 3600mhz RAM, SSD x2 + M.2 SSD 1tb x1

Saitek X45 HOTAS - Saitek Pro Rudder Pedals - Logitech Flight Yoke - Homemade 3 Button & 8-directional Joystick Box, SNES Controller (used as a Button Box - Additional USB Numpad (used as a Button Box)

Another feature still bugged from release, without any visibility on when/if it will be fixed...

MS/Steam should at least disable it or put a warning.
