if the sim was at fault many more people would have the issue, thats clearly not the case.

i am pretty sure its some kinda issue at your side.

That's an overly simplistic assessment. If there is a corrupt file within the sim, then that is a sim issue, albeit one that only I seem to have had so far I have never altered any of the sim files since installing it until deleting the content.xml file last night as a potential solution. That doesn't imply that it's a core sim fault, just that something is faulty with one or more files in my installation.

I have not read back through every post in the topic so excuse me if this has been asked.  What is the total length in the number of characters of the full path to your community folder?

I'm recording a flight with the Game Bar recorder so I'll get back to you on that one after I've landed.

Did you move your community folder?

No, not once since I installed the sim on release day.

Actually, one aircraft remains visible (when not disabled) - the AH Spitfire, but that may be due to it being installed via an exe file, even though the actual add-on is in my Addons Linker folder rather than Community.

Not sure what you are saying, but this does seem significant..

Can you explain in more detail?

I agree, it does.

What I mean is that add-ons downloaded, extracted and simply dropped into my add-on folder (or Community folder if I wasn't using Addons Linker) no longer show up in the sim, yet the Spitfire, which was installed via an exe file, does. The same goes for products installed via Orbx Central.

In other words (as things stand) "drag and drop" add-ons are invisible to the sim but those which are added via an installer seem to be unaffected. I would suggest that means that the sim perhaps can't see my community folder (and therefore the symbolic links that Addons Linker puts there), except that the Aeroplane Heaven installer puts the Spitfire's folder in there*. So unless AH somehow tells the sim to find the Spitfire folder in a "non-standard" way**...

*As far as I recall. I don't remember being instructed post-install to do that manually.

** I have absolutely no idea what that would mean. Pure speculation on my part.

We'll have to agree to disagree on that one. Haven't tried or experienced those but I'll try Admin and disable AV as an experiment.

I believe we are at the core of whatever is ailing you..

AH installs the Spitfire in the Community folder.

If you disable everything in Addons Linker, you would still find the Spitfire there..

So, try just that and see if you can identify the Spit and possibly other items you have installed directly.

Also, you will see the Orbx links, if you are not managing them via the Addons Linker (which you can do..)

Report back when you have tried this.

Anyone know whether if I delete the Community folder the sim will a) recreate it, b) throw out an error message on launch or c) other?

My feeling is that the Community folder isn't essential for the base sim (whether basic deluxe or Premium deluxe) to run, only for anything subsequently placed inside it. I am just wondering though, if the sim were to recreate it, if maybe it would then read its contents (which it currently seems to be failing to do.

I would suggest not deleting anything, nor reinstalling Windows at this stage.. 😉

If I understand you correctly, the sim loads the Spitfire and the Orbx scenery from the Community folder.

So it is reading its contents.

You said earlier that you have left the Community folder in its default location.  Do you have a Microsoft Store installation?  That is why I asked you about the total length of or number of characters in the Windows path to that folder.  Many users, myself included, had a difficult time with addons because the %$%&%^*%$&^%  path was buried so deep that it exceeded what is permissible by Windows.  Lets at least rule that one out!
