GPU was maxed at 70C. Super smooth pumping out 55-60 FPS the entire time. I had heavy clouds running the CRJ, so I think I am good. I can't really tell any difference between 4.5 and 4.8 GHz, which is the highest my system will run using stock BIOS settings. So other than being able to say my system runs at 5 GHz I really don't see a problem with the way it is running right now. Maybe at some point I will order a new cooler, and I will take a look at the video showing the water cooler mounted in a different location. Maybe there is something there. Thanks again guys. Just underclocked from 4.7 to 4.5 all cores lower temps and feels more stable now. Gut feeling is 4.7 is still a tad too high on some mobo/ram combos. [Update] Temps down 9 degrees C on 11900k system. Impressive. Edited October 9, 20214 yr by 40track
October 9, 20214 yr Moderator Guys, it's your systems but frankly, if you have to underclock your CPU to control temps there is something amiss with your hardware heat solution. RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160
October 9, 20214 yr I am running an i9 11900k and RTX 3080ti at standard settings @3.5ghz with a Corsair H100i cooler and my cpu runs at 49-55C, running at 4.5ghz its virtually the same! My cooler is at the top of my case and I have 3 fans at the front! Oh i agree something is not right. At this point i have eliminated the case and the thermal paste. So either my cooler isn’t seated right, warped or defective, or i need to delid this cpu. Regarding the cpu cooler, it does blow a lot of hot air out of it so i think it is doing its job, but maybe the 10850k is just generating a ton of heat? I am thinking next step is delid. 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 96GB DDR5 | 4K G-Sync | Win11 Pro

I'd put a different (water) cooler on it before going the delid option. Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB
October 9, 20214 yr Moderator If you feel comfortable doing it, the least expensive option is to lap sand BOTH the cpu case and the cooler block and make sure you are applying just enough TC. Too much paste is as bad as too little. Delidding is an option but get the cpu cooler without that and then, if you want to overclock the delid will give you some headroom. IMHO, delidding now is like putting a new engine in a car with a broken axle. RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160
