October 11, 20214 yr Looks like a CME is due to hit us today. Could be some disruption, so if your power goes out or there's disruption to the Internet you will know the possible culprit. https://www.independent.co.uk/space/solar-storm-earth-power-grid-satellite-b1936092.html "An enormous solar flare is expected to hit Earth today, potentially affecting power grids and generating an aurora in northern latitudes." I like the way they say "HUGE" solar storm and "enormous" solar flare to scare the pants off people but in reality it's just a moderate flare. 😆 Edited October 11, 20214 yr by martin-w
October 11, 20214 yr The usual science clickbait. Maybe that's why my power went off writing my last post.

Instead they’re running another “supermarkets are running out of food” headline. Ray (Cheshire, England). Everybody knows that when there's a mega CME and the world is plunged into the stone age, its bog roll for our bums we need most of all. It takes priority over food, water or any of those minor considerations. Thus, The Daily Fail would most certainly be running with the appropriate headline to encourage us to buy at the absolute minimum 1000 rolls each.
October 11, 20214 yr Moderator Well, there's a Karen in Australia who probably still has a large stock of bum paper! Fr. Bill AOPA Member: 07141481 AARP Member: 3209010556 Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator

October 12, 20214 yr Author Well it looks like those in the Northern part of UK may see the Northern Lights tonight if there's a gap in the cloud. https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/uk-news/northern-lights-visible-uk-tonight-21824412 No chance for me then. As South as South can be.
