Track IR centre view shifts

Featured Replies

Hello all, Hope you can help me with my Track IR problem. When i start FS 2020 everything works fine. I can look around and when i press the Center button the view resets itself towards the center. But somehow along the way the centerpoint shifts. When i press the center button the default centerview suddenly looks at the ceiling or far to the right or left. And i cant get the centerview back to the default position. I have to go back to the main menu, restart the flight and then TIR has its default centerview again. Does someone know how this happens and what i can do to re - "calibrate" TIR when this happens?

Thanks in advance, greetings Boby

Are you sure your camera view is centered in Track IR?

Thanks for the reply, yeah, in TIR the view is centered. Even when i ALT TAB out of FS 2020 into the Naturalpoint software and i press the center button, the view goes straight back to its dead center. Back into FS 2020 and the view is still off center. Meanwhile i have deleted all controller bindings (Saitek X56 HOTAS) and i am re binding them making sure nothing can conflict with the TIR.

I have had this problem and it was in one aircraft only - the one I fly the most - C-172 Steam Gauge.  I never could get it to go back to center at all until I had to reinstall MSFS 2020 because of something else.  After that, it centered as before.  I believe it was an adjustment I made in FS rather than a problem with TrackIR.  Have you tried other aircraft and, if they work as designed, I suspect that you may have done the same thing as I did and set something incorrectly.  You may want to try just going into your camera views and "set defaults" to see if that will work rather than a complete reinstall.  Maybe uninstall the aircraft and reinstall.  Good luck.

When you click the center button, do you mean F12?

I'm not familiar with the MSFS camera system but when I used TrackIR with EZCA, when the hat switch was mapped inside EZCA to pan the view, it actually moved the TrackIR centre point. This tells me that TrackIR centres to a point that is, at least in P3D and FSX, controllable from software. It seems very likely that MSFS works this way too, so the short answer may be that this is not about TrackIR, rather that you are changing something in MSFS to change the view centre position. Maybe worth exploring.

I just mapped Reset Cockpit View to a button on my yoke. When TIR goes off center, I use that and then recenter TIR.

Don't know why it happens but it does - reset cockpit view - it's in the Options Camera section.

I mapped reset and pause to my joystick.

Go into the camera icon and disable then enable track IR.

@Boby This happens to me if I use the hat switch look left or right while I have TIR paused. I kept doing it by habit. I re-centers the look ahead view, so you have to reset it in the FS. I don't recall how you do that but it sounds like what was happening to me.

Jay....that is the exact problem. I have replacted it and that is the problem so i have to stay off the hat switch. Thanks!!

Suddenly I have developed the same problem in the Seminole. I start out at a ramp, and the cockpit view slowly drifts to the right with Track IR on. Track IR is centered, but the view will only center again if I hit the F key. Then it starts slowly turning left again. Restarted PC and same thing. I will have to try another aircraft, to see if it is aircraft related.

Same problem in the DC6.  Can't fly like this... Nuts...

Found the problem, it was caused by the X box controller I had plugged in for the Drone camera. I disconnected it, and everything back to normal.
