Glowing edges

Is this problem related to graphics drivers, or is it a bug?

I don't know if you spotted my comment in this thread in reply to someone else, but turn off AA to see if the "glow" around the tree edge disappears. Then cycle through the (albeit limited) AA options to see how the tree outline is affected.

This looks like the result of an antialiasing technique to me, and I'm eager to know if turning AA off gets rid of it.

Of course, you won't have a good looking simulator in other ways then, but it will identify the cause (if that's it).

I'll test it next time I see it.

These "glowing edges" aren't just restricted to trees (or reflections) - they happen in all overcast conditions - on all objects:

My other pet peeve is the horrific "ghost" reflection, where a totally unrealistic aircraft shadow appears in the water in the far distance:

No amount of fiddling with A/A (or other) settings gets rid of these horrors.

Adam.

Is there a thread about this on the official MSFS forums regarding this?

Yes, this was the thread and it has been merged with another one regarding white edges around everything. Not sure if they were actually related, now we don't see a white halo around other objects but only trees.

I've re-checked the fringeing thing on my SU6 - and can confirm that it no longer happens on aircraft or airport objects. I do still get it on trees though - and the wierd ghost shadowing in water remains (as well as the mist/banding).
