TrackIR View Broken In Public Beta Testing Version 1.21.17.0

What I don't get is that this is happening on a fresh re-install of MSFS 2020 and TrackIR5.

Recently I re-installed windows and reinstalled MSFS on completely clean drives and when I got into the sim it had all my controller settings and assignments as if I never did any of that. As if I never wiped and resinstalled windows and installed a brand new drive. I assumed that the sim pulled this data from some cloud and have been meaning to look into it because of some issues I have been having. Perhaps you would care to do the same.

Is the right LED on the TrackIR showing green when you launch MSFS?
See page 9 of thr TrackIR manual. If the right LED is not switched on, it means that TrackIR does not recognise MSFS properly. If it happens all the time you might need to check your settings in IR.

The beta fixes most of my TrackIR issues but I still have the issue that sometimes TrackIR is not recognized, or MSFS is not recognized by TrackIR. I had that issue before SU7.
Usually, restarting MSFS fixes that problem.

How old is your Track IR. I had a 12 years old unit that was doing the same thing, and I got a new one to replace it, and problem solved.

Less than a year, so that isn't it. Luckily it doesn't happen often so it doesn't bother me too much. For the first 9 months I had CTD's every flight so I am counting my blessings now that it seems to be stable on my hardware.

All USB can go bad but if it works in other games.  Can you reset it in Dev mode?

Will also try this, but are you talking about in the MSFS 2020 camera menu, or in the TrackIR5 software?

You open the upper menu, when you are already in the aircraft, drop-down menu where is ATC, Camera, weather, etc ...

Click on Camera, and then with the TrackIr turned on, click on instrument reading follow-up, for some reason this disconnects, but if you connect it, it works perfectly for me.

try and tell us.

I just tried this, as I hadn't played with the settings from this camera menu.  Thanks for reminding me!  But I can't find the exact setting you describe.  I played with all the settings I see, and I did make some progress, in that when I turn on Smartcam, my view rises up and turns 90 degrees to my right.  Perfect, other than I'm looking out the window of the co-pilot's seat.  So then I hit "F" to recenter my view to look forward, and instead it turns off the Smartcam and my view drops to straight down again.  And through all of this over the last couple of days my external view is totally hosed as I described a few posts up.  It is frozen at the 8:00 position and level to the aircraft.

I have something I would like to try, if AVSIM considers this not a violation of MSFS 2020 copyright.

In the same location as the UserCfg.opt file under the LocalCache folder in the C:\users\<yourusername>... folder there are also other config files.  If someone who has TrackIR working in v1.21.17.0 could zip up the following files and send them to me via PM, I would like to try using them to boot up MSFS 2020 instead of my files.  The ones I'm interested in are...

Cameras.CFG

FlightSimulator.CFG

SimConnect.xml

UserCfg.opt

Since these are not executable, they are just settings profiles, I don't think it would be a copyright violation to send them to me via PM.

As @Jazz mentioned in his post above, if my config files have somehow become corrupted, and they are stored by Asobo somewhere on the Cloud, even a reinstall might not let me escape them.  So I'd like to try someone's who has TrackIR working.

Thanks!

Note:  If the Avsim mods see this request as a copyright violation, please delete this post.  I am not trying to do anything wrong.  I am just asking for profile settings and nothing executable.  Thanks!

Yes.  But thanks for your post!

theres a really good one on the official forums where someone is having problems with the latest Nvidea driver and screaming that MS/Asobo needs to fix it and it's all their fault 🙂

Going back to this. Asobo just released an update for the hotfix that actually fixes the driver crash. lmao

1.21.18.0 still CTD with that driver. I had to revert to 496.76 and that one works.

Just logged this ZenDesk support ticket…

After pressing “Fly Now” I am spawned into my aircraft looking straight down into my seat. This is with or without TrackIR 5 running. I have un-installed Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and cleaned my hard drive of any trace of it, and when I re-install MSFS 2020 the problem is still there…spawned looking straight down into my seat without using TrackIR. This is not a TrackIR problem. It happens without TrackIR running.

Pressing “F” or “CNTL-SPACE BAR” does not reset my view to looking forward. I have tried everything I know to do, and I cannot fix this bug. This started with SU7, and continued through the official public beta testing versions 1.21.17.0 and 1.21.18.0 I cannot fly MSFS 2020 with this bug, and I cannot escape it by re-installing MSFS 2020. I have spent over $1000 USD on MSFS 2020 and in the Market Place, and now I can’t use MSFS 2020 at all. Please help!

Have you tried using the Preset Manager to reset all your controller options ( keyboard, mouse, etc) to default settings?

A very kind Avsim forum member has taken the time to send these to me.  So I no longer need them.  I'll post the results of trying them with my installation tomorrow (it's getting late).  Cheers! 🙂
