December 24, 20214 yr So normally we would either set this up at Ronald McDonald House or invite all the neighborhood kids over to enjoy this but unfortunately circumstances the past two years have prevented that. SOOOO now I get to take over one room downstairs and revel in my childhood glory since the Dr's have me on lockdown anyway (Not CV-19) Just thought I would share as install 5.3 and all my AI. Happy and Healthy to all!! Some of you may recognize Cousin Eddie and the Griswald house as well as the house from a Christmas Story in there.... You'll shoot your eye out! Fragile, it must be Italian... Not sure if the videos will work. I may need to upload to YT and re-share Edited December 24, 20214 yr by psolk Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk

Still very much a geeky kid at heart 🙂 A lot of the enjoyment is actually figuring out a layout that works! It is amazing how far model railroading has come since I was a kid. December 25, 20214 yr My old 1949 American Flyer is still around. I used it for years, both my kids used it for years, and my grandson used it for years. My grandson still has it. He's in college now (graduates in May) and the train is in a box. I'll be talking to him today and now I'm anxious to learn how long ago was the last time he had it set up. In all those years and all that often less-than-gentle handling I don't recall anything ever breaking. It just ran, and ran, and ran. I wonder is the new stuff is that rugged. I don't remember a lot about it now (it's only been 72 years 🙂) but I do remember the log loader. Really neat stuff. I can tell you emphatically they are NOT made like that anymore LOL! The new loco's and cars have electronics, chips, processors, bluetooth which are all very sensitive and the new smoke units seem to be far more fickle than the old schoolers however with the bluetooth and my old ZW transformer I can now run multiple trains on a single loop with absolute ease. Sounds like all 3 generations need to get together at your place and play with some trains! My wife jokingly now refers to me as Sheldon Cooper from Big Bang Theory for multiple reasons including the love of trains LOL Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk

I grew up with a carburetor, a generator, three speeds forward and a clutch. By the time I was 15 I could fix a lot of stuff. Not anymore. Now, where the heck is that OBD-II port? And what do I do once I get the read-out on the codes?. Oh, silly me. Of course I'll just take it all down to a mechanic who knows how to fix this stuff. Need points and plugs? I can do that. What the heck are "points" the young man asked 🙂 . You can't even service my cars without an $8,000 tool, $10,000 with the laptop to run it LOL... My buddy just bought a BMW race car and the diagnostic tool/computer to run it was almost 12k... Can't do anything and I mean anything to the car without it... The Dealerships of the future are actually trying to figure out wireless connectivity to the lots as a priority for OTA updates to the vehicles. That is the service model of the future. Cars drives up diagnoses itself, reports it to service, updates itself and has the diagnostic recommendation and fixes all provided wirelessly before you are even handing your keys to the service rep. It's a massive project we are working on for ~33,000 dealerships at the moment. The Tesla video of a few thousand cars getting their OTA updates simultaneously was all our technology. 🙂 Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk
