PSA - Update your nvidia driver

Featured Replies

With the latest Nvidia driver (497.29) , I have blocks of transparent pixels appearing when panning the view (in cockpit or outside) and when panning the view is broken as if the driver could not refresh the view correctly (in the region where these blocks appear).

I went back to version 496.76 and no more problems.

I have a Nvidia FE RTX3090 CG card.

While I believe in keeping software up to date as much as possible, sometimes "newest" isn't always better. Case in point, I updated my driver to 497.29 and immediately began having CTD's shortly after starting flights. I had been on 471.96, which was working okay but was causing screen tearing when panning in exterior views. Enough was enough, I reverted all the way back to 457.30 and all these issues disappeared, the SIM looks great and performance is fine.

I will wait for a new driver that causes no issues and performs well before updating again.

usually I dont update to new drivers if Im stable on current driver. Well I made that mistake w 497.29. CTDs galore, maybe the most ive ever had since launch! for me a horrible driver.

@patrice_bambou This is the same issue I'm having (pixilation). I reverted back to 3 Nvidia drivers ago and it first seemed to solve the pixilation but that issue started again after flying for a while. I've also tried updating to the latest (yesterday), in all cases doing a clean driver install but it has not resolved the pixels at the top of the screen when I pan around. I'm convinced that this issue is with the MSFS update. I know that switching AA to something other than TAA, fixes the issue but without TAA, the AA for me is terrible. I've been using TAA from release without problems for hours at a time and now I can't go more than 15 minutes before its starts again. Restarting the sim takes care of it but they always come back. See: https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/glitchy-pixels-at-top-of-screen/430295/219. In case anyone is wondering, I have no issues with any of the racing sims.

In fact, I wrote too fast. This driver (496.76) also has these artefacts.

The one that seems ok for me is the 496.13 at a first glance. Will do a long test tomorrow to confirm.

I confirm. This driver (496.13) has no problems after a flight of 2h30.

Thanks @patrice_bambouI didn't test as far back as 496.13. Will test tonight.

Update: 469.13 survived 40 minute test last night with no pixilation. Will continue using it and report here only if I have issues.

On the latest driver, have not had the pixelating for 2 weeks, but I did have it before on this driver. Seems to be random, and I've just been lucky.

I bought a new system from Jetline Systems.  Assumming that your interest is MSFS and you're not playing the latest games, they recommend using the Studio drivers and not the Game Ready drivers. They believe the Studio drivers are more stable because they don't have all the bells and whistles that are of no use to MSFS.

I don't know if it's the drivers or the beta patch, but my GPU seems to be running cooler by about 5-10 degrees depending on load. Performance doesn't seem to be have been impacted.

2nd Update: Pixilation at the top of the screen when I pan the view, has come back using 469.13. I am back to thinking this is something with MSFS and not the drivers because this never happened since MSFS' 1st release with the same hardware. 😞
