What is the verdict on True Earth Now (US Regions)

Where did you get those improved autogen buildings for P3D?

I meant both, when did PBR get applied to POIs (for P3D)?  I'm reading TE Washington and TE Oregon ... can't find a mention of PBR on any TE?

All the models were PBR as I was the one who had to check each one, place them and check for conflicts in the region (X-Plane).

However, I'm not the one who did the port to P3D, but if you see shiny glass on the skyscrapers in Portland or Seattle, then they're PBR. Since they're the same models and textures in P3D, unless there was a specific reason to remove it (e.g. Memory usage or CTDs). I can find out next week for you when the guy who did the port is back

Ummm your Avatar looks like a Zombie.  These are some cool shots of TE in P3D

Hi Skywolf,

That would be because he is a Zombie :-)

Also those shots are not TE, just plain P3D, our Zombie pic is in Jena City Germany, the second is just outside of the Orbx LOWI airport area, the red and silver business liner is in England somewhere and the last is Rio De Janeiro on the side of the bay opposite the city.

The thing about TE and other packages from Orbx is that they generally come complete with everything for the TE region and/or location, thus even though defaults have been replaced they are not used for the most part, I say the most part because if you have HD Buildings the roofs will be used as that part seems to be a P3D default no matter what.

The above said, as long as a addin uses the default AG buildings and trees you'll end up with the full HD ones.

Hi Pinello,

I'd love to say yes to all but in actuallity it's a bit half & half.

Orbx TE regions come complete with everything they need independent of what is installed (disclaimer: I have only TE Florida myself).

Thus for the most part, upgrades to the defaults will not be used, although if you have HD Buildings the roofs will be replaced with HD roofs. Not sure about TerraFlora v2, but probably the same case where some are used.

That's not to say HD Buildings and TerraFlora v2 are not worth a buy (especially if on sale like now), as they will be used everywhere else, even in other third party's scenery as long as default autogen has been specc'd.

Here in TE Florida you can see HD roofs being used from the HD building packages while the buildings are the default TE Florida.

Once you get just a little higher it all comes togther nicely.

Here is Paulo Ricardo's SBRJ which is some 6.2 GB installed. You can see the default autogen is being used, HD Buildings in this case overlayed on a photoreal texture of the ground.

And a mix of the author's own custom buildings with the default HD Buildings.

HD buildings and TerraFlora in general global areas

My personal opinion is HD Buildings and TerraFlora v2 does add considerably to the sim as a whole.

Speaking of buildings HD from Orbx, does anyone know if they fixed the building rooftop conflicts?

Cheers, Rob.

I saw a post about this in the P3D Dev section (Beta). Orbx had contact with P3D about this.....and I recall it is fixed.

Excellent, I'll install, thanks Marcus.

Cheers, Rob.

EDIT: sadly it appears that only P3D default buildings are PBR, none of the Orbx HD buildings are PBR ... 😞

This is the reason I've uninstalled HD Buildings with 5.3 as I prefer the PBR default ones now.

I liked your post there, but I fear it's a case of if it won't sell anything new, it won't get done.

It appears they took your request as a “sloping runways” request specifically and claimed too much work.

To be fair, that was Nick Cooper replying rather than one of the developers......but that is the problem with the ORBx forum these days. Getting a response from one of the developers.

Sorry Marcus, should've asked in the other post but once I uninstall the Orbx trees, will the default PBR ones show up or does the Orbx stuff overwrite them thus requiring a reinstall of the P3D component or scenery module?
