What is the verdict on True Earth Now (US Regions)

Eric, which tree types?

Orbx do NOT use the more modern Dynamic Vegetation (SpeedTrees) supported by P3D, Orbx use the older X trees.  P3D Dynamic Trees (speedtrees) are PBR and have animation support for wind speed and wind direction and are volumetric not just an X.  Unfortunately no one (3rd party developer) took on the task of updating LM's default set of SpeedTrees.  SpeedTrees are actually visually superior to MSFS texture array trees, but one has to spend $6000 to get a license to modify and distribute trees other than those LM provide.

Cheers, Rob.

Jeez, $6,000 to plant virtual trees and in real life I paid $11,000 to remove 2 of the things!

Have a Wonderful Day

Not taking about speed trees. If I unselected speed trees and kept the default P3D trees that load into the sim, again, without speed trees being ticked on, are those trees PBR, the default non-speedtrees?

I just wanted to add if people were unhappy with the performance of TE regions in P3Dv4 give it another try. In P3Dv5 I get great performance. Highly recommended.

We should get 6 people together or better lets get 12 and each contribute $500 and get this addon made and split whatever the profits we get (I am serious, as I would like to full LLC, tax ein docs etc from the dev) - do you wanna do it as Dev?

TE is amazing for some reason the HD versions are working mindblowing on my xplane11 setup with vulkan.  Jaw dropping performance, P3D is working fine too but the graphics are insane on my xplane11.  Either way I have all Westcoast TE for P3D and xplane 11.  I am not flying over Florida as I am on Pilotedge Network for the time being.   Gotta finish those CAT and then I ratings.

Did I just miss something?  I found with orbx treees and terrA flora not installed the default p3d trees were a nasty lime green. Even with the speed tree box unchecked.

ORBX trees and terra flora are seasonal TE is not that`s why they are blocked, only TE Netherlands is seasonal but ORBX said they would no longer make TE seasonal due to time and cost as users would not pay to cover the cost. It would more than double the price.

Sorry should have clarified. I didn’t mean true earth. I just was asking if people were really turning off these two.

I agree. I find when I turn off Orbx Trees the default P3D trees with or without dynamic vegetation enabled look bad, they stand out too much and have a lime green color. When I turn Orbx Trees back on things look much better to me anyway.

When you disable/enable dynamic vegetation (speed trees) you need to restart P3D, they don’t take affect immediately.

Cheers Rob

Not sure if I was aware of this.  Thanks for pointing that out.

Obviously I can try it for myself.  But are you aware of any sites that show some images of orbx vs new default pbr trees and buildings?
