December 30, 20214 yr This is a bit odd, but when I try to set up the fine FBW A320 throttles I notice that the number 1 engine throttle moves up in value (in the sim cockpit) to about 35% before the number 2 throttle begins to move. Soon the number 2 throttle overtakes the number 1 until both reach 100% at TOGA. What's odd is that I'm using a Thrustmaster T16000 hardware throttle with both Throttle 1 and 2 axes (0 TO 100%) set to axis Z on the hardware throttle. The Z axis is set to linear with no sensitivity adjustments. This asymmetry is reflected in the engine thrust, fuel flows, etc. Latest development version as of this morning. Many thanks in advance. December 30, 20214 yr Author Good to know. I would raise this in the FBW Discord, but it keeps asking me to verify via phone. Then it tells me that the number is already registered. No big deal. I just wanted to check out the progress on the a320, but wasn't able to fly it due to the throttle problem. Maybe some other time..... Have you checked your calibration settings? I can't check it for myself because of a family invasion. There's no mention of the issue on their Discord,
December 31, 20214 yr Just a thought but did you check the calibration in the tablet within the fbw, there is a section to make adjustments in the tablet portion..You may have already checked but figured I’d just mention it in case. December 31, 20214 yr Author Thanks for the ideas. Yes, I did the calibration process, and the detents were calibrated for a single throttle axis, because that’s correct for the hardware. Everything looked good, but then I noticed that the throttles weren’t moving in sync. I was about to download the regular release version, but ran out of patience. December 31, 20214 yr It may be a hardware issue. My ThrustMaster TCA Pack has a slightly different range on the left throttle vs the right throttle which causes me to have that issue. On the FBW not a big issue as most of the time I leave the throttles on CLB until the flare. However, using it with other aircraft it is a pain if Auto throttle is not being used. December 31, 20214 yr In the calibration screen there is also a option for a single axis joystick / controller or double axis if I remember well. If it is set wrong there might be problems. Not behind a computer now. Edited December 31, 20214 yr by rob0203
December 31, 20214 yr Hi, I followed this guide when setting up my thrust levers and I have no issues. https://docs.flybywiresim.com/fbw-a32nx/feature-guides/flyPad/throttle-calibration/?h=cal Cheers Edited December 31, 20214 yr by gb09f 9800X3D | 5080 | 32GB | 2TB NVME | Dell Ultrasharp U3415W 34" | 3440 x 1440 60Hz
December 31, 20214 yr Author Thanks again, everyone. I have figured out a solution, but I'm not completely sure about what caused the problem. Have a look at that section of the manual throttle calibration instructions at https://docs.flybywiresim.com/fbw-a32nx/feature-guides/flyPad/throttle-calibration/?h=cal#manual-configuration Now go to the location specified for your installation where the ThrottleConfiguration.ini file is located. I have the MSFS distribution in the standard configuration, so that file is located at %LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState\packages\flybywire-aircraft-a320-neo\work Delete that configuration file with MSFS closed and then start MSFS, select the FBW A320 and spawn the sim at any airport. On the EFB, select the Settings "gear" at the lower left, and then click on the Calibrate button. If you, like me, have single axis throttle hardware , i.e., one axis controls both in-cockpit throttle handles, be sure that the Independent Axis toggle is set Off. This is where I messed up previously. Now you can calibrate your detents if you like. Personally, I find the default detents quite satisfactory, at least for testing purposes. Click on Save and Apply to create a new ThrottleConfiguration.ini file. I think that what happened was that I fiddled with the detents while that last toggle switch was in the on position and hence inadvertently adjusted the detents of one in-cockpit throttle, but not the other. I realized my mistake and then set the toggle switch to the off position, and then was in a muddle when the two throttles mysteriously went haywire. As far as I can tell there's no way to fix that mistake once you've made it. You need to go back to square one. I really think that FBW ought to include a "reset to default" button on the detent calibration page, but I have no way to communicate with them. I find Discord to be a total mystery, but that's probably because I just don't understand how to carry on six conversations simultaneously and then look them up three months later. Others will be more successful at it than me, and I applaud their skill, but it's way beyond me.
