Sky4Sim Pad - A Worthwile Purchase

Featured Replies

Stumbled across this app while browsing msfs youtube videos.

A virtual tablet at a fraction of the cost of a real tablet.

Runs from within MSFS and be called up using the in-game panel or a shortcut key (default is V)

Does a bunch of cool things you'd expect an addon like this to do:

- map,  map filters, weather, airports, etc.

Allows upload of pdfs for inflight viewing - charts, manuals, etc.

Requires setting up two api keys for Bing maps and weather - the website provides detailled instructions on how to do this.

No impact on framerates.

Thumbs up from me!

That looks really good.   I think I will get it.   I like the look of the map layers and the way it is resizable.  Thanks for the heads-up!

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Intel 14900K in a Z790 motherboard with water cooling, RTX 4080, 32 GB 6000 CL30 DDR5 RAM, W11 and MSFS on Samsung 980 Pro NVME SSD's.  Core Isolation Off, Game Mode Off.

it needs to run as its on app on a separate monitor. In game apps take to much desktop space and If you window them your framerates are cut in half

I'm having problems with it, as the navdata update process is very messy and it delivers missing information on several airports. The developers are also certainly not fast to offer solutions.

I use it in VR to have some pdf documents handy. The flight planning is limited to traditional navaid. Also good to consult weather in VR ( the GTN750 can also provide this information).

Hmm, I've noticed this too when I emailed them to ask if they ever intend to add teleporting abilities into their map. Still waiting for an answer.

I had to contact the Little Navmap developer who also developed the open source database extractor being used by Sky4Sim, and he recognized there's a bug in the database extractor that will probably be fixed in the next Little Navmap update (told me in months). The guys at Sky4Sim remains silent.

@edpatino Ed, so then you must also have the same missing info in LNM, yes?

PS - they did get back to me today regarding the lack of teleporting, but they do not intend on adding this feature, currently.

That's correct. That's why I associated both issues to the same bug.
