May 6, 200719 yr yes, it too me a while to figure this one out myself, for my screenshots, i had to make a border to cover it up, but i dont have to do that anymore. -Raymond W PC Specs: AMD Ryzen 9 3900X - ASUS B550M-K - 32GB Corsair Vengeance Pro 3200Mhz - MSI 3070 TI Gaming X Trio
May 6, 200719 yr Nothing like coming to the party eight months late and then trying to tell the hosts what music they should be playing, when it has actually all been played before you arrived. Thanks for the history lesson.Allcott
May 7, 200719 yr I finaly figured this out (by the way, the bar I am talking about is the one that comes up when you press the "alt" key). There are two ways to get rid of it, you can press "alt+enter" twice, or the easier way is to hold down alt until it goes away. This is very nice to know if you are into making movies with FSX. ;) Some of you may have already figured this out but this will explain it to those of you that haven't.
May 7, 200719 yr Moderator >why does Avsim tolerate this sarcastic fool on here???They don't, not any longer at least... ;) Fr. Bill AOPA Member: 07141481 AARP Member: 3209010556 Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
May 7, 200719 yr I honestly wasn't trying to be sarcastic and I didn't know this had already been posted. Sorry.
May 7, 200719 yr The "sarcastic" was not directed at you.No need to apologize-a lot of people are not aware of how to get rid of the menu bar-I am sure some found your post helpful. :-)Please feel free to post again!http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpg Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
May 7, 200719 yr I think Steve was reffering to Allcott, right Steve?Allcott has been here a long time, and has a tendency to be sarcastic or negative sometimes, but he also provides informative and knowledgeble info from time to time, so I've decided to just ignore those grumpy or ironic comments, and look if the guy has something to say.I must say though that I think everyone should feel welcome here, whether they started this hobby yesterday or have had a second life inside FS for years ...Eagle
May 7, 200719 yr Apparently a she..Yes, it is a shame to lose someone with good information and perspectives to give.On the other hand, I have never really understood the joy some seem to receive being rude and insulting within the anonymity of the Internet. I am sure there is a physiological term for it. I think most that come to avsim do so because avsim does not allow this. I know I did back in the 1990's for this very reason.http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpg Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
May 7, 200719 yr >Apparently a she..>You never know, a dude called "Jennifer" used to frequent these forums earlier too ;-). Another product of the forum anonymity?Eagle
May 7, 200719 yr >>why does Avsim tolerate this sarcastic fool on here???>>They don't, not any longer at least... ;)>. . .uh. . meaning? Sorry for asking, but am I missing something here?Hmmmm. . . Allcott is no fool, my friend, and indeed has an awesome intellect and a knowledge of r/w aviation and simulation aviation that few others possess; yes, for whatever reason - she also will often show her displeasure of anyone who, for reasons of laziness, lack of common sense, "newbie enthusiasm" or just plain stupidity - when he (or she) asks what she considers to be a time-wasting question, especially one that has been asked a thousand times before. Whereas I sometimes have a hard time tolerating fools - I realize that I am also sometimes a fool - so I tolerate her shortcomings. Also - she is part of the family. I would miss her if she were gone: just as I would miss Big Al, Ray Proudfoot, neslesman, Jaap, Larry Adamson, bleske, G7USL, JimSkorna, and so on: she often helps others and contributes. One does not always have to agree with a particular philosophy or style, but I would rather have her with the rough edges, than to not have her.Two cents. . . . and - yes - she has p***** me off a few times, too. May 7, 200719 yr I hope you're right, and some people find this helpful. I discovered how to get rid of the menu bar by accident and before I discoverd how to get rid of it, it was really irritating me.
May 7, 200719 yr While we all appreciate the sharing of knowledege, it does not excuse one for directing their rudeness at others. Lack of patience, rudeness, and hostility towards others, especially those new to a hobby is reprehensible and shows a severe lack of maturity.Thank you Bell417 for bringing this bit of information to our attention. There are many who may not know of this tip, either from being new, or not frequenting forums as often, in which case this tip will be very useful. Please ignore those who seem to derive some kind of twisted joy by attacking others.
May 7, 200719 yr . . you're right - it was a pain, and the only way I've found answers to many, many issues I've personally had with both sims is to constantly - every day - at work - at home - be on this site. Sometimes I search: sometimes I ask, because my search ended up with too many responses, or my wording wasn't clear enough. :-hmmm The main thing is - you made contact and by these posts - you ARE helping other people: so thanks. and welcome.:-beerchuganother 2 cents.pj i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
