Need help with msfs crash

Featured Replies

Are these CTD coming with different default aircraft at different places of the world ?

You say your Community folder is empty but what about the Official folder where some addons find their nest (like the NXi in my setup) ? Anything added there  from the Market Place ?

Have you selected DirectX12 in the sim? This could cause crashes, especially with third party addons

If you have a manual cache and/or rolling cache set, try disabling and deleting the cache(s).

Nothing from market place, différents aircrafts same problem, but maybe you are right about official folder. But with my pour vdsl connexion i won't try to réinstall the sim...

Reinstall has to be the ultimate solution, do not rush into it ! And it is not even sure that it would solve the issue,

NXi is the freeware Garmin 1000 NXi made by Working Title and available on the Market Place. Excellent product but you need the last version and in rare occurences it CTDs the sim.

Going back to the hardware, no excessive temperature ? No USB connection a bit loose (controller, headset etc) ?

What Nvidia drivers (number) do you use ?

I will try later to uninstall realtek driver as someone on msfs forum had a lot ctd before remove it.

Using the Google Earth mod instead of Bing even one time can cause MSFS not to run ever again. But you can change this file to fix it. It is a text file, so use a text editor like notepad.

c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

Here is what it looks like after using the google map replacement mod.

Erase the last two lines that start with 127 <=======

Every line should start with #.

# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.

# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.

I am aware of this problem, that's why when i start MS without the mod, i clear rolling cache, and restart the game. Fire up again ctd come back just before menu, or sometimes at Gate or after take off.

Frederic,

You are missing the point of Fielder's post: clearing rolling cache has nothing to do with, and will not fix the problem he describes. If your crash is caused from use of Google map mod, the ONLY way to fix it is to edit the hosts file as shown above. You will NEVER fix this problem until you do that.

Erase these two lines!

Mine started crashing earlier this week but I eventually solved it by deleting Realtek audio driver. My system immediately reinstalled it without me asking (naughty) at the subsequent reboot, but this straightened it out and now I can fly again.

Only issue I now have is I can't hear the ATC replies, sigh. But that's another thread potentially.

I solved my problem by following the instructions on this page.

If i am not able to solve these ctd, i will do it.

Google for "quick reinstall of MSFS"

OneStore is 180G on my system, there is a way to copy it over pre-install

Otherwise it can be hours to download

Before you decide to reinstall try the following steps...
