February 7, 20224 yr Hi all, does anybody know how to get the sim to use Runway 27 with real weather enabled more often? It seems like it's always preferring Runway 9. Grown-up in San Diego runway 27 is always used more often since the winds are coming from the West Asus Tuf Gaming Plus B550 - Ryzen 7 5800X3D - Asus GeForce 4080 RTX OC Edition - 64GB DDR4 (3600Mhz) - EVGA 850W Power Supply - 2X 1 TB NVME PCIE gen 4 - Windows 11 (25H2)
February 8, 20224 yr Are you finding mismatch between winds and runway, or is it that METAR local ground level winds when you happen to be there is more east-biased? I think since MSFS started doing much better matching ATC and METAR it seems to be fairly balanced, 27 and 9 use that is. February 8, 20224 yr I notice that ATC has an option 'Request another runway' when you are given your taxi clearance. I tried it a few days ago but it only offered the parallel runway. 9800X3D | 5080 | 32GB | 2TB NVME | Dell Ultrasharp U3415W 34" | 3440 x 1440 60Hz
February 8, 20224 yr Flew in there the other night with live weather and ATC gave me runway 27. Departed yesterday and got 27 as well.
February 8, 20224 yr Recently ATC has done a better job of matching up the proper runway with surface winds, but the last couple of days, at least for me, it's regressed. The last several flights ATC has assigned the absolute wrong runway - if I followed their assignment I would have had 20+ knot quartering tailwinds. I ignored their instructions and used the appropriate runways for the winds. Sad, as I thought they had made progress with this item. Randall Rocke

MSFS ATC doesn't understand real world traffic flow. So it will chose runway based on wind or direction or departure direction. IRL it's not uncommon for runway 9 being in service. Runway 9 is the only one that have ILS. And approach itself causing less noise. On foggy day or during santa ana wind runway 9 would be a good choice Life time flight sim enthusiast, current airplane owner 172P (past C182F). February 9, 20224 yr I fly into KSAN a lot using real-time weather and I get RWY 27 9 out of 10 times.
February 9, 20224 yr Author Thanks for the reply..yes I have noticed a bit more use on 27. Asus Tuf Gaming Plus B550 - Ryzen 7 5800X3D - Asus GeForce 4080 RTX OC Edition - 64GB DDR4 (3600Mhz) - EVGA 850W Power Supply - 2X 1 TB NVME PCIE gen 4 - Windows 11 (25H2)
