May 17, 200719 yr Well I have 640MB of video memory and I still get blurries after a random time but only in vista. I thought it was fixed after removing the bufferpools line from my fsx.cfg but it popped up again from time to time since then. I have found that it is almost a guarantee that my schweizer chopper will cause it after some random amount of time. I also found it interesting that it happened yesterday seconds after i updated my GA and airline traffic to 50%; almost like the increased textures of the additional planes on the ground at SEATAC pushed the video card over the limit and it blurred. A restart of the sim is the only way to get the textures to come back.________________________________________________________________________________________________Intel D975XBX2 'Bad Axe 2' | Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 @ 3.20Ghz | 2 GB Super Talent DDR2 800 | Big Typhoon VX | eVGA 8800GTS @ 565/900 | Seagate 2x320GB SATA RAID-0 | OCZ GameXStream 700W | Creative X-Fi | Silverstone TJ-09BW | Matrox Triplehead Setup
May 17, 200719 yr I was getting blurries on buildings a minute or so after sitting on the runway at KATL doing FPS checks. They seem to be gone now after fiddling with the sliders in FSX and, I think more importantly, the 158.18 NV driver control panel settings as well. You have been tweeking the video driver settings too, right? Maybe tring other driver versions? If you're on Vista, what the does Vista-readieness check come out at? For reference, (max scale = 5.9) when I run the Vista check, everything is 5.9 expcept the processor score, with came out a 5.7, thereby giving me a total score of 5.7.Also, disc-trix your FSX partition and move scenery and texture folders to the front of the partition. May 17, 200719 yr Well I am gunshy with changing any drivers in vista with nvidia the way they are. All of my other games run well and I don't want to risk it by changing to drivers with generally poor reviews online to potentially solve an issue with fsx. We have pretty much the same pc and my score is identical to yours with my processor at 5.7 as well and all else at 5.9. Vista automatically defrags every wednesday night at 3am by itself. The blurries have only happened once in the two hours or so i have played since sp1 came out so ill take it one day at a time and see if it gets worse. I know it didnt like the increase of that airline and GA traffic though.________________________________________________________________________________________________Intel D975XBX2 'Bad Axe 2' | Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 @ 3.20Ghz | 2 GB Super Talent DDR2 800 | Big Typhoon VX | eVGA 8800GTS @ 565/900 | Seagate 2x320GB SATA RAID-0 | OCZ GameXStream 700W | Creative X-Fi | Silverstone TJ-09BW | Matrox Triplehead Setup
May 17, 200719 yr Yea, default AI-anything are poly-pigs. I disabled my default airline traffic bgl file last night in anticpation of porting an alternative airline suite. We also need some of these fine developers around here to make some low-poly gate vehicles, cars, ships, and so forth. Then we'll be able to turn those sliders back up where they belong. May 17, 200719 yr Maybe it is texture memory issues? (??)Running with my specs below, I have yet to have a problem with blurry textures. In fact, I ran a Cessna 172 cruise (3,500' @ 100kt) on 4x sim speed for an effective 400kts, and the textures and autogen kept right up. One difference I have that perhaps others don't is that I reinstalled TreeX v2 (reduced size tree textures) and my reduced size cloud textures from pre-SP1. With the reduced texture memory footprint for these two items, could it be that my system now has more room to get the ground tiles in and running? (It should be noted that my installation was a pure, fresh install of FSX, immediately patched to SP1, then run for the first time and activated. No config file tweaks have been applied, and my detail sliders are all set in the middle-to-high areas. No bloom, and NO AI TRAFFIC)
May 17, 200719 yr >have you changed Fiber_frame_time back to the default?>>and the JOBSCHEDULER tweak, to not schedule on core 0?Hi Phil. I'll try the JOBSCHEDULER tweak tonight. Cheers!Gadwin
May 17, 200719 yr I am confused about this jobscheduler thing. Isn't the point of that to make it so that only one core processes threads and not the other one or three depending on dual or quad cpu? Wouldn't that negate the benefits of the patch by telling it not to run multithreaded? Can anyone explain this to me? Thanks!________________________________________________________________________________________________Intel D975XBX2 'Bad Axe 2' | Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 @ 3.20Ghz | 2 GB Super Talent DDR2 800 | Big Typhoon VX | eVGA 8800GTS @ 565/900 | Seagate 2x320GB SATA RAID-0 | OCZ GameXStream 700W | Creative X-Fi | Silverstone TJ-09BW | Matrox Triplehead Setup
May 17, 200719 yr For the Vista guys-maybe Christian is on to something (even though in this case he is speaking of Tileproxy).http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...sg_id=230&page=http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpg Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
May 17, 200719 yr Worth a shot for those with Vista... I am currently running XP with no blurry issues. Technically advanced Vista users with blurries - try disabling the "SuperFetch" service in your Services area and see what happens. If you don't know where your services area is, or aren't sure what SuperFetch is, do not proceed. :)
May 17, 200719 yr >On the other hand, autogen batching seems to have>high priority as in your picture - it loads much faster than>the ground textures.I noticed this too, and at first I suspect that autogen was given priority with SP1 and was pushing texture work to the back of the scenery que. But as others have reported, turning off autogen doesn't seem to help, so that kinda blows that theory out of the water...Don't give up hope on a tweak to fix this just yet... SP1 has only been live for a day and a half.
May 17, 200719 yr What is the default for SP1? .33?For jobscheduler, does that apply to multi-core only? Or id we have single core do we need to specifically set it to 1 core? | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |

May 17, 200719 yr Yes there is a specific interaction between the Vista Kernel and tileproxy that causes some blurries and even texture corruption on my test machine. But this would not apply to anyone running the stock SP1 getting the blurries.
May 17, 200719 yr <I changed the Fiber_frame_time back to 0.33I wasn't sure how to execute the JOBSCHEDULER tweek above(to not schedule on core 0), so I added the following to my fsx.cfg (per one of your tweeks, Phil, on your Weblog):{JOBSCHEDULER}AffinityMask=3I do have a dual core CPU. The blurries, new for me with SP1, remained the same (detail directly below and blurry in the immediate distance and beyond)Now here is what is amazing to me. Since I saw no change I decided to change the AffinityMask to 1 (for single core). The result was NO CHANGE in performance or rendering. I still had the higher SP1 FPS and still the blurries. However, the Windows Task Manager CPU History was telling a different story. AffinityMask=3 had been showing a high CPU usage with a lot of activity on the 2nd core. AffinityMask=1 was showing a pre SP1 CPU usage, 50-55% with little activity on the 2nd core. But, again, let me assure you, there was no difference in actual performance. To clarify, the CPU Usage History shows a dramatic difference in Core utilization between using AffinityMask 1 & 3, as I would expect. But the actual performance of the flight sim showed no difference. Can you tell me Phil, what this might be saying?Love absolutely everything about SP1 except the blurries! May 17, 200719 yr >Don't give up hope on a tweak to fix this just yet... SP1 has>only been live for a day and a half.Boy I hope they come up with a fix. I'll have to go back to Pre SP1 just to have a useable game. I just hope the developers are not stumped and leave us high and dry on this.
