Getting Blurries with SP1

Featured Replies

Hi simmers. I'm still getting blurries with SP1 when I fly at low altitude even though my target FPS stays constant and at the maximum value of 15 FPS. Since my FPS isn't going down and is staying constant, I'm guessing I may have resources to spare to reduce the blurries.Any suggestions on how I can reduce the blurries? Thanks.Gadwin

I tried Phil's suggestion by putting in different values for SWAP_WAIT_TIMEOUT but that didn't help. It looks like there are others who have issues with blurries with the new SP1 patch. Does anybody else have any suggestions on what to do to eliminate the blurries?Gadwin

I have horrid blurries as well. Even in the ultra-lite, my ground turns to a blur and won't load up. It's my biggest issue with sp1.

I get horrible blurries as well. The textures just do not load. I can fly around in circles over the same city block for two minutes and the textures still do not load. I even tried deleting my FSX.cfg with no help. My question to those getting blurries is this: Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling FSX before applying SP1, or did you apply SP1 over your existing install? I installed it over my existing install. I guess I can try uninstalling and starting from scratch, but it will take me many hours to get all my FS9 aircraft and stuff added back in.

HI, You might have better result if you uninstall and reinstall fsx ,after install sp1, some of our tester reinstalled fsx because of some corrupted graphics things after installation of sp1, which was way better. To be sure you defrag after is important.ThanksChris Willishttp://www.hifisim.comhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-dev-sigbanner.jpg

Clean install of FSX, applied patch, getting the same blurring using default scenery, and when I use Tileproxy I get 4m+ textures less than a mile after taking off then the scenery melts away into a horrible mess. Before the patch using tile proxy I could fly at 200KTS and have crisp 1m textures 95% of the time using a FIBER_FRAME_TIME_FRACTION of 0.9Tried tweaking the FSX.cfg file using the instructions on Phil's blog with no improvement, one thing I did notice is that Both core's are at 100% most of the time when I fly using the scenery I cached from tile proxy. For the moment I have went back to a pre-patch FSX and will see how thing work out in the a few weeksJohnE6600@ 3.2Geforce 7900GTO 512 MB2 gig SDRAM

Good god, blurries on a clean install WITH a dual core. Not good. There is definitly an issue here. There should be no need to "tweak" to make textures load as they should in the first place. I highly doubt another patch will come out, so I wonder what this means?

I just got my first post sp1 blurries as well. I would get them randomly usually after flying the justflight schweizer chopper and only in vista. I never get them in xp. I was hoping sp1 would fix this but it doesnt look like it did. The only way to get rid of them is to close fsx and restart it and then its usually good for a while depending on if i use the schweizer or load multiple saved flights. Fsx and vista just seem to run each other ragged. The sim runs fantastic in vista but i just cant get it to reliably run unblurred 100% of the time.________________________________________________________________________________________________Intel D975XBX2 'Bad Axe 2' | Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 @ 3.20Ghz | 2 GB Super Talent DDR2 800 | Big Typhoon VX | eVGA 8800GTS @ 565/900 | Seagate 2x320GB SATA RAID-0 | OCZ GameXStream 700W | Creative X-Fi | Silverstone TJ-09BW | Matrox Triplehead Setup

Well I'm going to uninstall and reinstall when I get home. I'll test for blurries, install SP1, and test again before I touch anything else. I'm hoping it works, but considering most have no issue with blurries, I wonder why some of us do? It cannot be related to the hardware config, as it happens with both single core Athlons and Core 2 Duo.

have you changed Fiber_frame_time back to the default?and the JOBSCHEDULER tweak, to not schedule on core 0?

OK, I completely uninstalled FSX, deleted all related folders, defraged, ran the KB fix, reinstalled FSX, and applied SP1. I then lauched the game for the very first time, left all graphics settings at default (ultra high), and I'm still flying over mud. This is what it looks like as I casually cruise in a fixed direction.http://sio.midco.net/FTP5/blurry.jpg

Hi,I'm getting blurries too! Loading of textures seems to be very very slow. I have got everything as default in the .cfg and turned down most sliders. Tried locking frame rates and running unlimited - no difference. Get FPS of about 40-50 and the textures just do not load or are very slow!. Other than that the SP1 update is good. Just this really bad blurries issue. This issue has occured since SP1 and was fine prior to SP1.I'm running on an intel 3.4 with HT (yes - I tried the affinity setting), nvid 7800gs glh (overclocked), 2 gig dual ram and windows xp.If the blurries get solved - then i'm happy :)

The ground textures seem to switch to a blurred state based on some determination in the program. I can start ok with the stock Cessna but, depending on the scenery, FSX will switch to a blurred state and blur the 3D panel as well. I can trigger my system when I turn on a bunch of objects at my local single runway airfield. My fiber_frame setting is 0.5 which helps in normal flight (over simple areas) to render the textures ahead of time. Auto-blurring seems to have no magic cure however.Prior to SP1 I would occasionally see sudden transitions to a blurred state as well but they were rare.Regards,Dick Boley2ghz - 1mb - 128mb ATI 9800SE

That's way better than before. Great thanks to ACES for that.BUT no matter what autogen settings are (even with AG totally off), the ground textures very fast get blurred (with texture resolution set to 1204 as well as 512, 1 m per pixel as well as 2 m per pixel) and seem to reload only randomly, mosaic-like. On the other hand, autogen batching seems to have high priority as in your picture - it loads much faster than the ground textures.Another new phenomenon are textures of non-autogen scenery (for instance blast fences in Seattle) that need some seconds to load and show in the meanwhile as bright fluorescent green.I tried some of the tweaks from Phil's blog with no success.Next thing to try will be reinstalling the reduced autogen texture sets. 128 MB of VRAM IS insufficient, I know, but I'm trying to wait with buing a new rig until the DX10 update is out and the HW will be a bit better. Hopefully there will be a simple solution as a SP2 will be very unlikely.

I start off fine and clear, then as I fly, the textures just don't clear up -- they stay blurry. At least I can run my second core to 100% now. I even deleted the fsx.cfg and let it rebuild it, but still blurry.
