Getting Blurries with SP1

Featured Replies

Hi Scandi426,Thanks for the tip but unfortunately I had already done that (and all the other tweaks)! The only trick that works for me is revert to RTM and it's not a solution I like because, apart from the blurries, there are many obvious performance benefits to SP1.Conclusion: there is a regression in texture loading with SP1. I find it actually loads distant textures better but there is something less robust in the way close textures are loaded. Once again, this is for big photo scenery areas and less applicable to the default textures that utilize much less space in memory and on the HD.ACES did a good job with SP1 but at the moment for large photo sceneries RTM is better for me.Rgds,JCMK

>May people say they are not getting blurries but I don't>belive many of these poeople have photo scenery loaded for a>quarter of a country!>I have high-res (1M/pixel) photographic scenery installed for two whole countries (England and Wales) together with custom autogen and I don't get blurries:IMG]http://img411.imageshack.us/img411/7766/blurriesvd6.jpg[/img]

For completeness sake, I've found that my computer is happier at 2m textures and LOD of 4.5 than it is at 1m textures and LOD of 4.0.So 2m textures it is for me, until I can buy a faster computer..For that, no blurries!

The fact that FSX runs on many user's machines without unacceptable blurries indicates that it is not the FSX code at fault because we all run the same code. Ergo the blurries issue must be in the individual hardware/setup combinations.Well to what extent can we blame hardware w/o making FSX inaccesible to the general enthusiast? I mean, the tweaking now necessary to get rid of the blurries (I have tried many so far with no success) to those who have them (and there are more than a few as I can see from the postings on this forum) appears to be an endless cycle of frustration in getting FSX to function capably across the board.P4 3.6 Ghz, 2 gig ddr ram, X800XT 256 mb PCIe

That's good news and also very interesting. I wonder if it's the way the FranceVFR textures are made that trow off SP1. They are legacy products (for FS9) whereas I belive the product you are using is a FSX native product.Either way, I can confirm that with RTM no blurries, with SP1 blurries....

I too get the blurries - but it's mostly directly BELOW myaircraft. When I look into the distance, the textures are clear. When I look down and/or go to spot view and look directly belowthe aircraft, I have this small radius of blurred textures.Pause the sim, wait about 30-40 seconds, and you'll see thisblurred area produce sharp textures.Obviously, not a fix, but just wanted to relay my observations.JerryG
