May 17, 200719 yr You can only fly this FSX+SP1 without sliders fullright, ONLY medium quality, and of course Im not talking about to try it on JFK or LHR congest ares.Intel Core2 Quad Extreme QX6800 8Mb cache L2ASUS Striker Extreme 4Gb DDR2 Corsair 800 Mhz XFX 8800 GTX x2 (connected via SLI)NEC LCD MultiSync 2190UXi bk 22" (1600x1200 @ 32 Bits)TAGAN 1100W750 Gb SEAGATE 7200 RPM 16MB cacheCREATIVE SoundBlaster XFI Extreme Gamer ProfessionalI think FS2004 it's the best version seen ever... and will be for years, many funny and cool add-ons for it, with the best performances + sliders full right you get 99% time 25 fps locked 25

If you could give your hardware specs and what OS your'e using, maybe some guru might give you some advice to get more fps out of the SP1.Ulf B :-)
May 17, 200719 yr Great improvement here on an older chip (3.2GHz P4 OCed to 3.5). Running with high graphics settings, I'm getting 20-25FPS (13-16 cities) without removing the default.xml file. Autogen is looking much better. Still have traffic turned off, but thats a sacrifice I'm willing to make. Remove the default.xml and I get an additional 10fps, but I'll keep it in place for the eye candy.Best of all, the sliders actually seem to have some predictability to them, which will make tweeking a lot easier. Dropping the autogen a notch or two raises the framerate accordingly, whereas before it seemed to be all or nothing. This really does feel like a whole new sim. Thanks ACES! I was happy with FSX before, but it looks so much better now! To those of you still experiencing problems, take the time to do some benchmarks on your system (e.g. 3Dmark) to make sure your system is performing as it should. A defective heatsink made my system underperform for quite a while before I finally figured out what the problem was.PaulRelevant specs:P4 3.2GHz @ 3.52GB RAMX1950PRO
May 17, 200719 yr That may be true but FSX has much improved graphics and better representation of the feel of flight. It's almost like comparing apples with oranges.James

May 17, 200719 yr >I am having hang/freezes/reboot flying this SP1.In my opinion, a reboot is a real good indication you have a hardware problem. XP (and I assume Vista) are really good about preventing software from affecting overall system stability. In the "Views" thread I suggested you yry downloading and running 3DMark06:http://www.futuremark.com/download/3dmark06/After you get the results, it will show you how your system compares to similar systems. If your score comes back with an average score for systems similar to yours, you can be more confident that there is not a problem with any of your hardware or drivers. This helped me a few months ago when I got my new video card to discover that the PCI express port it was plugged into was not communicating at the correct speed (it was at 2x instead of 16x).Good luck.
May 17, 200719 yr Ulf B, Im so testing all ways in this SP/FSX, it's a pity not able to fly with all sliders to the maximum, Im very exigent flyer, sorry about my sincere comments, Im not happy with FSX, of course I love FS2004.
May 17, 200719 yr Thanks friend for your help, but my problem is not that system I am for very sure, there's no Quad's support it's the truth, seems for P4 and DualCores, it's can be...Im not the best fs tester of the world I know... but I told to Phil Taylor for testings this Service Pack on my system, but still waiting...

May 17, 200719 yr After installing SP1 my FPS goes from 20 without panel to 2 with panel (Cessna172)Thanks in advance for any advise.RegardsBert

May 17, 200719 yr By the way Im still having a bug (like before SP1) when you try to minimize the FSX window im not able to re-entry already in there.
May 17, 200719 yr As an update to yesterday's observations here are the results of some further testing - aircraft was Rick Piper's excellent JP5 (got the same results yesterday with the stock Maul): 1. All scenery sliders set to the left stop and no autogen. 2. First reference flight from Valley; weather fair, daytime, frame rate locked to 40 - great frame rates but still got the st st stutters - frequent and very short (but very annoying) significant drops in FPS to low to mid single numbers and teens. 3. Second ref flight from Montpelier; settings as above and still got the stutters. 4. Set FPS lock to unlimited and still got the stutters with indications of wild fluctuations in FPS - fewer down to the very low numbers but big swings between high point of mid 70s to anywhere between low singles to 20s, 30s, 40s etc. Interestingly I got the stutters also when the only thing visible on the screen was the outside world (good view from the JP5 cockpit) - so no aircraft bits displayed. Remember this was with all scenery sliders set to the left hand stop. As an aside these stutters occur whether using stock scenery or Horizon's Gen-X photo scenery. BTW Texture Bandwidth Multiplier set to 40 (one of the first things that I did). No other tweaks applied at all. On the evidence thus far I'm afraid I have to give SP1 nill points - yes great increase in framerates but the stutters kill it dead. I only hope that MS take this seriously and do something about it and quickly (I don't fancy waiting another 7 months). Ah well... back to BF2 then.Regards, ChrisPS - given the significant disparity between user experiences could this be processor type specific? I have an AMD 4000+ (single core but overclocked).
