March 24, 20224 yr Can anyone please advise. The only way I can get x plane to rotate the view using my joystick is to assign pan to "hatswitch left/right/up/down" but the pan rate is incredibly slow. If I edit this to rotate fast then in exterior view the view does not rotate around the aircraft but rotates/pans around the scene but not centred on the aircraft. If I try custom methods to rotate the interior view the exterior panning again does not revolve around the aircraft but around the scene. How can I speed up the hat rotation both interior and exterior and keep the exterior view with the aircraft centred? March 24, 20224 yr for those "I want it exactly this way" requests your best bet is to write a flywithlua script. Also. get a VR headset 🤣 before I got mine i was using the "quick look" left/right commands. Edited March 24, 20224 yr by mSparks AutoATC Developer

I found these 2 suggestions on another forum, they might work: Quote Make a copy of your X-Plane.prf file in case you need to revert back. This is located in the "X-Plane 11\Output\preferences" folder. Then open X-Plane.prf and find "_joy_BUTN_use14 sim/general/" Change the hat_switch_up to rot_up_fast. Do the same for button 16, 18, and 20 as shown below: _joy_BUTN_use14 sim/general/rot_up_fast _joy_BUTN_use16 sim/general/rot_right_fast _joy_BUTN_use18 sim/general/rot_down_fast _joy_BUTN_use20 sim/general/rot_left_fast Then save your settings. or Quote Just change the "hat" left/right motion to "Pan right fast" and "Pan left fast" -- Click "custom" on that, then select [EDIT]. Finally select the action/pan you want from the list that appears on the right (Pro-Tip: type "view" in the search bar above it to narrow down the selections) Screenshot attached: Works like a charm. HAT Left/Right pans quickly now. "Society has become so fake that the truth actually bothers people".
March 24, 20224 yr Welcome to X-Plane @robert young, btw! I thought you were firmly in MSFS land these days? Or are you just getting some "different views" (pun intended) in X-Plane? 😉

Hi jcomm, Sorry I didn't reply earlier but I've only just seen yours. Well, I did install X Plane 11 a long time ago then uninstalled it as I couldn't take the washed out graphics. This time I've tweaked the contrast/colours and it is better, but to be honest I don't find the stock aircraft or many addons that fly significantly better than FSX/P3d/MSFS. Also the flight model tweaking is quite a steep learning curve for me as I have little experience with X Plane, but it looks doable. So far I've enjoyed the Zibo 737 but that's about it. If you have any recommendations I'll investigate them. Thanks! Edited March 29, 20224 yr by robert young Robert Young - retired full time developer - see my Nexus Mod Page and my GitHub Mod page

The Aerobask Lancair could use some flight model tweaks (the payware one, I don't use the freeware one anymore). It's actually pretty nice for the model, sounds and avionics. There's a fun SF260 as well (lol this sounds like a broken record) - payware again - but works with the RXP GTN or GNS units. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |

I would recommend the Toliss Airbuses, but they're a bit expensive 😕 For the airliners, the Zibo 737 is surely a great option. The default C172, maybe with the REP Expansion Pack can probably offer what I believe it's a very nice reproduction of a C 172 SP. I also enjoyed the Skunkcrafts-P51 and the MLADG-Me109 as well as some helicopters like the X-Trident Bell 412. March 29, 20224 yr @robert young If you've had the chance to fly the PA28 in FS2020, I'd strongly suggest you try the same PA28 from the same vendor in XP11. I'm thinking of this one because this is probably one of the few aircraft available on both platforms, made by the same vendor. Knowing you have a very good appreciation of flight models, comparing the two is to me very revealing about what each platform is capable of offering in this department.
