After updating to SP1, stuttering and scenery 'popping' is so bad that the sim is unplayable. I can't seem to find a cure. Anyone else getting performnace this bad? Anyone been able to fix it? Any ideas?BrianDell XPS 710 (3 weeks old - not overclocked)QX6700 quad coreInvidia 8800 GTX4 GB ram

Have you read none of the threads from the past week? There's at least a half-dozen of 'em.

You just have to sift through the pile of hay to find the needle!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the non-answers guys!Brian

Read the recent thread entitled "Possible solution for OOM error in Vista". Read the suggestion made by Markus on modifying your FSX.exe. If you have Vista installed, you should use it as it got rid of any blurries and stuttering as well as my crashes on my system. I have the Dell XPS 710H2C which is similar to your system and it should work on your system too if you upgraded to Vista.Ciao,Jim

Popping happens...it happens to me, it happens to a lot of people here...It's the way it works after SP1 I guess...(You're talking about autogen popping in in a square-like fashion?)

Yeah, autogen popping in as you approach is "normal" as the fade in/out effect is gone. It may return in DX10.Stuttering however is not normal.

>Yeah, autogen popping in as you approach is "normal" as the>fade in/out effect is gone. It may return in DX10.It really makes you wonder why this was necessary... To me it almost completely ruins the idea of really being there! It's downright AWFULL! It must have been a BIG problem that caused Aces to decide to allow popup in. And the fact that it MAY return in DX10 doesn't make me happy too. This means that I have to live with popup AT LEAST until october, and possibly forever... I really don't get this. Could someone of Aces explain what made this decision necessary (because I assume Aces did not allow popup because they thought it would be a nice idea... ;) )? And I assume it's not possible to undo 'it' (whatever it was to make popup necessary) by tweaking some files...?This is really a BIG disappointment... Popup has always been something everybody hates. The fact that SP1 forces us to live with popup, without ANY way out apart from reinstalling FS X wihout SP1, is... is... is... well, I don't have the words for it...EDIT:Found the answer on Phil's blog:"The vastly improved batching of Autogen was one of the major performance items in SP1 and helps to reach our target reduction of 35-40% for Draw and SetTexure calls. However, it does have an implication that, when coupled with a feature we lost from FS9, you should be aware of. FSX does not

No he means the old FS9 fade in may come back with DX10 updateAs far as the stuttering goes Brian, a LOT of users are reporting it along with blurry tiles that cannot catch up with our 100kt cessnas. But their are also users not reporting the above issues...It might be hard to debug this one...hmmm

If you want to uninstall SP1 go to the control panel in the Start panel. Once you have the control panel up, click "Add-Remove" button. There is a small check box that you can click. It says something like "show updates" check that box. SP1 should now show up near FSX. Click remove. That should get rid of it.

I did a 55 minute test flight with SP1 last night, and the popping I saw was no worse than pre-SP1...RhettAMD 3700+ (@2585 mhz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (Guru3D 93.71), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2gb Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8 (1T), WD 150 gig 10000rpm Raptor, WD 250gig 7200rpm SATA2, Seagate 120gb 5400 rpm external HD, CoolerMaster Praetorian

Thanks for the advice but I am running XP SP2 not Vista (yet)Brian

Brian:Thanks for the comments! I had never seen the popping before SP1. The stuttering is really bad here on a very high end system. I will try a number of things to attempt to eliminate it but I had not seen stuttering prior to SP1.Brian
