Hey all,

I was having a thought the other day about what would be a perfect sim addition as far as both traffic and ATC that controls the traffic in the sim.

Bear in mind that this is perfect world stuff here so some may just not be possible currently, just more of a thought experiment. Also no preference on if this is Asobo or a third party, however ideally I would want one 3rd party to do both ATC and traffic as they are so intrinsically linked. 

Traffic (this is the slightly easier part that has been partially done before):

• Real world models (I think low poly count is fine so that the sim doesn't become a slide show)
• Real world airline liveries following company routes (already there I realise)
• Better taxi, take off and landing behaviour, including expediting take off and exiting the runways off high speed exits etc to keep the traffic flowing at busier airfields
• GA traffic including helicopter traffic (both VFR and IFR) 

Now for the tricky bit!

Air Traffic Control:

• Realistic ground control without major traffic jams with aircraft ending up nose to nose with everyone stuck and left feeling a little embarrassed by the situation
• Faster instructions using real radio techniques such as "break break" to issue instructions to more than one aircraft (perhaps speech speed adjustable, more natural sounding)
• Easy to use UI for ability to respond quickly (I really enjoy the Heatblur F14 wheel type of UI for Jester, basically up down left right for options)
• Regional accents and possible regional differences ie switching to meters etc. (I'm not saying every country on earth, but perhaps 8 - 10 regions, US, UK, European, Russia  Australian, Africa (Northern, Equatorial, Southern)  South America, China etc) I may be reaching a bit here but it is just a thought experiment after all!
• Ability to handle traffic procedures ie holds in stacks etc - this would really help stop silly approaches with 5 aircraft all on short final at the same time!
• Ability to handle our requests for left or right of track for weather, usual 5 degrees or so

I am sure I have forgotten some of the things I thought of. But that's definitely a good start!

Now if someone could build this for me and have it out working perfectly in about a month that would be great! 😁

Er... not sure what the purpose of this topic is (it seems to be just a wish list, more than a thought experiment) but well, yeah, it would be nice to get what you want but don't count on it any time soon. No one ever managed to get this all done for any previous sim so I don't see this happening soon in MSFS. It obviously and clearly isn't as easy to program as a lot of people seem to think. 

Oh yeah I absolutely agree, I didn't think it would be easy at all. In fact I would be happy with perhaps just a few of those items. 

I know just flight has been working on ai traffic for a while with custom aircraft models. I was thinking of getting simple traffic just to have some aircraft that at least have liveries, but I am not the biggest fan of the ai generic aircraft models that are currently in the sim.

Actually holds and faster transmissions could go a long way to making traffic flow a little better. 

Point taken though, I doubt we will see anything like this any time soon.

I don't really use the current iteration of ATC as it normally suggests that we fly into the side of a mountain more often than not!

You do not need an ATC addon, you get your instructions from Live ATC.  The real world pilots will answer of course, but you just do the same. Just like in the video.

It is a mind shift, thinking out of the box 😉

I can vouch for Kiek on this.  I have Live ATC with Real Traffic and PSXT.  You might want to experiment with it.  It changes the experience when you hear real time ATC and you're immersed in it in your sim...

Seeing this occasionally drives me nuts 🤯😵 One of the worst aspects of AI traffic at the moment IMO. In addition to AI aircraft using over 3000m of runway before vacating, creating a word not allowed mess at major airports like Heathrow.

For a while now I’ve been using AIG models/liveries with Asobo live traffic. Once AI traffic behavior is fixed things will be quite sweet.

Ah, I get the idea. But it is limited because you can't ask for another approach or altitude and so on. And you can't say 'Say again' afaik? You also have to fly flights that are actually done in the real world at that moment....? I need to dig into this a bit more. 😉 Interesting idea though.

But er... which addon should I look for exactly...?! The video doesn't make that really clear to me. Hard to dig for information when it's not clear what the addon is. 😉

Yes you should fly a flight, of your favourite airline for instance, either as a replacement or by following the real aircraft close by.
