AAO or Spadnext ?

Featured Replies

Hello,

I'm intended to buy the PMDG 737.

What is for you the best add-on for biding keys to the Honeycomb Bravo Quadrant ? Is it possible to have the lights illuminated on the Bravo with Axis and Oh ?

Thanks for your sharing your experience,

Daniel.

Hello,

I do not have experience with Spad.Next, but can just talk for AAO.
In AAO nearly everything is possible and you can find the scripts for lights already in my AAO scripts here:

I've never used AAO, but ended up with Spad.Next as it was obligatory for a peripheral display I use. I'm happy with Spad, it does what I want, and there are lots of Youtube videos about how to set bindings to your liking. Not sure if AAO does the lights, but I use Better Bravo Lights (available on flightsim.to) with my Bravo, and it works superbly.

Can you assign the throttle axis of a joystick to handle forward, idle and reverse thrust in AOO for the 737? In FSUIPC this isn't possible for the PMDG 737s.

Kind regards,

I do not think that is possible with either program as the range is set from PMDGs side.
You enter reversers with F2 (throttle dec). The throttle itself has the full range without reversers.

But making a script covering this would be possible I think.

I tried this AAO script/template with the demo version of AAO and it works great. Did someone already create something similar for Spad.next I can try and compare? I‘m in the same boat deciding which of the 2 to get for my Honeycomb Alpha/Bravo. Spad looks more „friendly“ for me as an average user with not too fancy equipment…

I like AAO, works perfect for all I want. I do not know spad.next, though.

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

Thanks a lot, Guenseli. I won't be using the 737s all that much anyway as I grew accustomed to FBW's A320Neo. Their throttle calibration feature is great, adding a lot to the immersion.

I own the full version of both and I find Spad.Next much more intuitive for me to use.

I like the flexibility it allows with my Saitek / Logitech panels and FIP gauges.

I like running these virtual FIP gauges on my FIP.   https://www.fipgauges.com/

Spad supports sim hardware ranging from the Knobster to custom built.

If you watch a few videos by someone like Les O'Reilly he really shows what Spad can do and how easy it is to use.

Thank you very much for your advices.

I've watched some excellent videos of Les O'Reilly and I will be a big help for matching this addon.

another vote for spad.  I've been jumping into it deeper in recent months . It's capable of supporting so much.  Originally I thought it was just a saitek type program.  Support on their discord is great both from users and from staff.

My vote is on axis and ohs.

its not as easy to program like spad.next, but it just costs a lot less and is well maintained by lorby, also a great community and held from the dev.
