Yeah I have to say I was pretty shocked.  I've been buying high fidelity and "study level" addons like this since FS2000 and this is the first addon of this caliber that has not come with a detailed manual, tutorial, etc.  At the very least they should have done something to cover the features and functions specific to Fenix like their EFB and the non Airbus specific stuff like the failures menus in the MCDU.

I do underline your last sentense.

For a FCOM - I don't know if there are any restrictions in regard to licenses for Fenix. But it is not a problem to find one in the internet.

Fact for me - for such a deep simulation systemwise you will need a FCOM. In case of failures the ECAM doesn't tell you all. Since days I am indexing my FCOM to be able to find what I'll need in the case of the case. Without it is a nightmare ... That is the price I have to pay, because I wonted a study level bus.

Love the Fenix.

Best regards

edit:  Just in case I missed it, do they actually have videos?  Or is it "just wait for your favorite YouTuber to create a video showing you how"?

It's kind of like that Fenix don't create many vids on their YT Channel. A320 Sim Pilot "real world Airbus pilot and Fenix Beta tester" has and will do more tutorial videos on the Fenix and very informative. If interested take a look (not a infiliate with channel) ) https://www.youtube.com/c/320SimPilot/videos

Yes we have YT vids and those of us familiar with the FSlabs A320s will cope but a FENIX specific detailed how to operate manual would be expected - disappointing that there isn't one.  While getting up to speed with this bird there have been issues not covered in any of the available guides and only by trawling through this and other forums have there been any answers.

Yeah I've been following him since the early days of the FBW and am pretty active on his Discord as well.  In my case it's not that I need help with the actual flying, just that it would have been nice to have something covering the extra features specific to the Fenix version like how their failures/maintenance systems are supposed to work etc.

edit:  I'm sure 320 Sim Pilot and others will have tutorials on the failures system at some point, I just feel that Fenix themselves should have had some form of generic overview at least of their basics before the addon launched.

Lets not forget this is a 60 dollar add on, not a $100. Plenty of free Manuals online. To give us manuals they would have to pay a license fee, and pass this on to us.

There are bazillions of manuals available online, going back to the days of FSX, no need to reinvent the wheel.

Or watch one of the millions of youtube videos and just take down a few notes. For, example the tutorial videos by FbW.

Or use trial and error. If you find yourself stuck to the side of a mountain, you know you messed up.

It's a game. There are an infinite number of do-overs possible.

I understand people would like to have the FCOM, but that's legally not possible for Fenix (also PMDG is not allowed to ship this anymore with their products). It's easily available via google, though - the very first result is already a legit download link.

I also understand the wish for a manual specifically for Fenix, which at least explains what the specific Fenix options do (like what does failure rate "high" mean please?). Also a written tutorial flight would be a good thing for newcomers.

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

That's not what I expected, a study level aircraft and a 723 kb "manual" in the docs folder ?

Or did I miss something ? 😳

I'm sooo glad that I still have Mike Ray's A320 book from 2008.
