No, because if electric driven pumps are OFF the APU fuel pump starts by itself.

It's a difference between not needing a fuel pump vs not required to push an additional fuel pump button 😉

I think we might have a misunderstanding of the comment you quoted. How I read it, Bob didn't mean the APU doesn't use a pump to force fuel into it, rather, that as pilot you don't need to turn on any fuel pump switches to make the magic happen. That was the line of logic I was going for in my reply as well.

Maybe I misinterpreted him though.

Take-offs are optional, landings are mandatory.
The only time you have too much fuel is when you're on fire.
To make a small fortune in aviation you must start with a large fortune.

There's nothing less important than the runway behind you and the altitude above you.
It's better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air, than in the air wishing you were on the ground.

Question: Are you trying to start the engines on the same livery each time?

If the answer if yes, try going into Config->Maintenance and running the Request/diagnosis options.  Likewise, double check that you haven't triggered a failure by going to MCDU MENU->MAINT->FAILURES

If on the other hand, you have the same problem with every livery check all of your throttle bindings.  And if you don't see anything there, I suggest a direct support ticket with Fenix. https://kb.fenixsim.com/kb-tickets/new

I was replying to someone that stated " Make sure fuel pump for Apu is on before starting the apu"  There is no way to ascertain if the pump for the APU is on, because there is no switch for it, so you just start  the APU , and all the main pumps can be off. The pump starts automatically if main pumps are off.

Cool, so I understood you right. Yeah, the pump switches never have to be on to start any of the turbines on the aircraft on the ground. I guess the other guy thought we both meant pumps themselves and not the switches. It's an easy bit of language to get confused to be fair, lol.

I’ve tried on 2 different liveries with the same result, I also tried the MCDU menu thinking maybe I’d triggered a failure if some sort.  I’ve also submitted a ticket with fenix but it’s been 5 days and haven’t heard a thing.  I will try having another look at throttle bindings, thanks.

Yeah, unplug your throttles, hit F1 to set the levers to idle (or whatever binding you have set for that via keyboard - or just drag the physical levers in the virtual cockpit to idle) then start the engines and see if they start. If they do, you know it's your controller.

Same problem- engines fail after a few seconds of startup. I hear a click noise as if something turned off the engines.Tried everything suggested , different liveries, removed bindings, redid bindings , etc., (and this is only from cold and dark)and still no luck! I haven been able to make a flight since I bought it. Sent messages to Fénix, emails, and no. replies.About to ask them for a refund!

Recommend to try this:

- rebind ignition switch, turn it on manually

- calibrate your throttle and ensure you really have throttle idle indicated in the MCDU - do not look for detent. When throttle idle is indicated - store calibration and do not touch the throttles

- start engine as normal

Best regards

Detlef

If thrust levers aren't idle, the start up will be aborted. That seems the most obvious cause. You will get an ECAM memo for this though.

Also could be a hardware controller conflict causing either ignition or fuel valves to close.

Try starting ready to fly, and then fly the aircraft until you get a response from Fenix.

Hi I sent in a ticket to fenix about 5 days ago but haven’t heard anything back, figured I’d ask here.  I haven’t been able to start the engines from either cold and dark or APU on state. When changing from engines running to cold and dark or APU running the aircraft will shut down but as soon as the ecam is on N1 indicated 4.1% and EGT is about 280.  No fault light for with packs is on. After starting APU and opening APU bleed when engine ignition and fuel are turned on nothing happens. When bringing up the bleed page on the ecam it appears the engine bleeds never open.  I have tried everything I can think of to get them to open but they won’t. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling, have never been able to get the engine bleeds to open and have never been able to get N1 below 4.1%. Anyone else have a similar issue? What am I missing?

thanks for the help

Galen

Could you share your ECAM pages at the time when you switch the engine starter? Even better would be a video.

Hi Galen any updates from Fenix? Same issue here where the engine is stuck at 4.1% after fuel cut off and won't shut down at all despite having tried everything in the book
