Active Pause

Featured Replies

Does P3D have an Active Pause like MSFS and DCS? If not, it needs to cuz it is extremely convenient when trying to learn a complex aircraft or procedure.

Isn't that a regular PAUSE function that stops everything? The active pause the DCS and MSFS have stops your aircraft in mid flight. But you can still do stuff in the cockpit and AI aircraft and vehicles still move. Like I said, that is extremely helpful when you're trying to learn a new complex aircraft or procedure.

Unfortunately not.  P3d is based on a 25 year old sim.

What does not mean, it could not be introduced in it. It is rather the programmers at LM think like 25 years ago.

OS=WIN11 Home, Sim=P3D5 5.3 (P3D4 and FSX for install reasons)
Addons=ORBX, ASCA, AS, TOGA and tons of sceneries, aircraft

OK, let's take a break before you guys go any further down the road of embarassing yourselves by slagging on LM for not implementing something that, well, they actually did implement, and many years ago.

If you go into P3D's controls menu, you'll find controls for "Freeze Latitude and Longitude" and "Freeze Altitude".  You can directly set a button or key assignment in P3D to toggle a freeze of the acft's position.

Additionally, P3Dv3, P3Dv4, and P3Dv5 all have long-established sim controls that will freeze the aircraft lattitude, longitude, altitude, and/or attitude.  Those controls are (from John/Pete Dowson's control lists):

66827 FREEZE_ATTITUDE_TOGGLE
66828 FREEZE_ATTITUDE_SET
66829 FREEZE_LATITUDE_LONGITUDE_TOGGLE
66830 FREEZE_LATITUDE_LONGITUDE_SET
66831 FREEZE_LATITUDE_LONGITUE_TOGGLE
66832 FREEZE_LATITUDE_LONGITUE_SET
66833 FREEZE_ALTITUDE_TOGGLE
66834 FREEZE_ALTITUDE_SET

You can use FSUIPC to send those controls with a button, switch, or macro, or you can use a Lua script to turn the freeze settings on/off as desired.  Or, if you don't have/want FSUIPC, you can use your own program using Simconnect to trigger those controls.

For example, here's a simple sample Lua script to toggle a position freeze of the aircraft lat/long and altitude:

--Lua script to toggle position freeze (lat long altitude)

ipc.control(66829)
ipc.control(66831)
ipc.control(66833)
