Old Science Fiction...

Featured Replies

I loved this film as a kid (Shiney pointy rocketship!!)

Years and years later I found out there was a sequel novel, and ate it right up.

The cities mentioned in the second book are even seen briefly in the distance at the end of the movie. I've no idea why they never went on to make the sequel, but I bet they could do real justice to these books with today's special effects.....

Thanks for the link. Actually, this is the re-made color of the original movie. The second volume "After Worlds Collide" is a sequel to the original story, but has never been made into a movie...

This film was in the classic style for that era: straight optimistic sci-fi spectacle.

In my memory, the books were a lot darker, even brutal.

It would fit right in with modern movie sensibilities and concepts of realism.

If you want to see a real old science fiction film, check out A Trip to the Moon. It’s iconic scene starts at 7:25
