July 13, 20223 yr In a short development update posted on SimWorks Studios social media, the team revealed that a major flight model update has been implemented in the Kodiak, improving the aircraft’s response to complaints of over-sensitivity. Another major new addition to the Kodiak 100 package is the long-awaited amphibious version. SimWork Studio has announced that the work on this variant is finally almost finished, with modeling and flight dynamics completed. The update of the Kodiak 100 with wheels and the release of the amphibious variant should take place shortly after the launch of the Sim 10 update next month. July 13, 20223 yr I really look forward to the tweaked flight model. One of my main critiques is the sensitivity especially in pitch. Love the airplane though. Can't wait for the PC12.... that's a day one buy for me, and probably not much else will be flown for quite a while.
July 13, 20223 yr Am I remembering correctly that the amphibious variant of the Kodiak will be a separate purchase or am I just making that up? I took at look at the product page on the SWS website but didn't find any useful information there. EDIT: Nevermind. Found the answer in an older thread here on Avsim: Edited July 13, 20223 yr by Malaromane
July 13, 20223 yr One of the best planes ever developed for a flight sim. Really looking forward to the float variant!
July 14, 20223 yr Apparently it was calibrated for things like the Fulcrum or Yoko yokes with 8" pitch throw which means people with your typical short throw combat sticks need to recalibrate specifically for the Kodiak. In particular on take off you need to maintain no more than 10 degrees pitch while speed picks up or the Kodiak will drop a wing and this is apparently tricky to achieve on a short throw yoke/stick without softening the curves a lot. Never had any sensitivity issues (Fulcrum yoke with linear curves) but it is good that they are fixing it for people on joystick and short throw yokes that have issues. I note that people are already calling the Float variant the "Floatiak" 😄 Edited July 14, 20223 yr by Glenn Fitzpatrick
July 14, 20223 yr Also on the Floatiak, some people seem to assume it is an upgrade to the existing addon. It is actually a separate product: Alex on Discord: Quote The Floatiak will be 15€ stand-alone, 10€ if you have the Wheeliak too. The reason for the reduced price is that the floatiak doesn’t have as many variants as the wheeliak. The maintenance work is much less.
