August 14, 20223 yr If the main criteria for the build was MSFS, and it had to be built today than for sure I would go with the 5800x3D. However, in just a few months a new crop of CPU's will be out. Pricing on current chips mentioned will go down and likely the new ones will be better and you may want them anyway. So personally I'd give it a few months. 5800X3D, 4090FE, 64GB DDR4 3600C16, Gigabyte X570S MB, EVO 970 M.2's, Alienware 3821DW and 2 22" monitors, Corsair RM1000x PSU, 360MM MSI MEG, MFG Crosswind, T16000M Stick, Boeing TCA Yoke/Throttle, Skalarki MCDU and FCU, Logitech Radio Panel/Switch Panel, Spad.Next

I run a RX6800 non XT graphics card similar scpoe to 3070ti, I went from 3900x cpu to 5800x3d. Now running at 4k ultra. Lods @200. The level of performance gain has unlocked the CPU mainthread so i am now always limited by GPU which is now the limiting factor for frame rates. Once airborn even upping to 400 terrain lod still does not overload the CPU, always GPU limited I considered the 5900x and reviewed many peoples experience with 5900x and 5950x prior to purchasing. I don't have the links, but try looking through the 5800x3d on the MS offical forums as a good place to start. It is the size of the cache and the speed at which this data can be directed through the CPU that makes all the difference in FS2020. All other current AMD CPUs cant compete in this title. I have no complaints with this CPU right now for 2d single screen 4k, however early next year I am planning to build a new AM5 rig with 7800x3d-CPU and RX7850XT GPU, 64 gig DDR5 system, to go triple Screen and VR options, based on the creep of information coming out on these upcoming parts.

I know what you’re saying but if you followed this advice, you’d never build a system. 🙂 This has been the case for the last 30 years… there’s always something better just around the corner. At some point you just need to get something built. Edited August 14, 20223 yr by Virtual-Chris

But that's me 5800X3D, 4090FE, 64GB DDR4 3600C16, Gigabyte X570S MB, EVO 970 M.2's, Alienware 3821DW and 2 22" monitors, Corsair RM1000x PSU, 360MM MSI MEG, MFG Crosswind, T16000M Stick, Boeing TCA Yoke/Throttle, Skalarki MCDU and FCU, Logitech Radio Panel/Switch Panel, Spad.Next

It could be another 6 months after launch before they are available and by then the next best thing will only be a few months away. 🙂

With looming recession it will influence the market dynamics. I see validity in your point don't get me wrong. I think I’m ready for the AMD Ryzen 7 5800x3D and the ASUS TUF Board B550. I would ask your recommendation for a good SSD of course just for MSFS2020. Thank you all for your advises

I’m not too familiar with the latest and greatest M2 drives… but spend a few minutes on Google for best gaming SSD and you’ll be swimming in recommendations. Get something that’s fast (PCIe 4), affordable and at least 1TB. Oh, and I don’t know if you’ve picked RAM, but the ideal kit is probably 32GB (2x16GB) 3600 C16. Crucial makes a nice affordable option readily available on Amazon. (This one… CMN32GX4M2Z3600C16) Edited August 16, 20223 yr by Virtual-Chris

If you’re after one of the fastest, go for the Western Digital Black SN850. This has a read speed of up to 7000Mb/s and comes in size up to 2TB. 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 64GB DDR5

Just keep in mind that you need a motherboard with PCIe 4.0 support to get the highest speed. 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 64GB DDR5
