August 14, 20223 yr Hello, i will ask your advise for the upcoming CPU Upgrade for my exclusive MSFS 2020PC, Three Options i get and please Give me your Priority Advise. 1. Intel Core i7-12700k 390, ASROCK Z690 PRO RS 188 2. Intel Core i7-12700k 390, ASUS PRIME Z690-P wifi D4 239 3. Intel Core i7-12700k 390, ASUS ROG STRIX Z 690-G Gaming wifi 335 My Graphics Card is RTX 3070ti 32 GB Ram Thank you in Advance
August 14, 20223 yr These boards don't make really a difference to your performance. Advice on prioty? Price, amount/type of board connections, features, bios menu familiarity, brand loyalty, mayby even looks.
August 14, 20223 yr It might, or might not, be useful to know from what you intend to upgrade. The chipset on all three proposed choices is the same, so as above, make your own choice based on what other features you feel that you need.
August 14, 20223 yr Would you consider AMD instead? The Ryzen 5800x3D is the best CPU you can buy for MSFS right now.
August 14, 20223 yr The ASUS ROG STRIX Z 690-G supports DDR5, the other cards are DDR4. You will need te replace your existing DDR4 RAM for this board AMD 7 7700X, 32GB DDR5, RTX 5060ti 16GB, 2 x Samsung 1TB NVMe, 1 x 4TB sata SSD, Windows 11 Prof

Doesn’t the 5800x3D perform best in every game? It’s widely been hailed as the ultimate MSFS CPU for months due to the massive L3 cache. Edited August 14, 20223 yr by Virtual-Chris

I note that DDR 5 is eye-wateringly expensive too and it would probably make no detectable difference to MSFS.

So it would be future proof for DDR5. But most probably you would update your CPU in combination with jumping to DDR5 in the future. Who know what socket and chipsets those require. Their CPUs are vastly superior to Intel's now, at least for what MSFS needs. For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

I would suggest a B550 board (brand and form factor of your choice - I like the Asus TUF boards) and a 32GB set of 3600 C16 RAM. You will also need a cooler. I have the Arctic Freezer II 280.
