Sim Update 10 is postponed by two weeks (or possibly longer)

Recommended Posts

Well, it was announced today at the Twitch Q&A. Sim Update 10 is postponed by at least two weeks.  I believe the reason for the postponement is because they are trying to fix the issues with DX 12 and the FPS/performance of the last beta build.

Looks like the public pressure and voting from the thread in the Open Beta forum was able to affect Microsoft/Asobo's decision

That is a good thing. Looking forward for testing a possible next beta….

Its going to take longer than 2 weeks to fix DX12 for P.C. at this rate it may release in December. Its more of a user problem with limited resources at this point than the program itself.

Oh yeah. They aren't fixing the DX 12 issues in 2 weeks.  I said before that it will probably take them until next year before DX 12 runs smoothly and is free of bugs.

I think its more the user with high expectations with worn out systems can't face reality at this point. this is 2022 where 8 gigs or system ram and 4 gigs graphics mem cards don't cut anymore like in 2016. I have heard of users running the Fenix at near 19 gigs of system ram and 10 graphics mem? I think many expect miracles from Asobo to run MSFS smoothly at high settings with less than ideal hardware.

the beta, DLSS, and DX12 runs  perfect for me after hours of flight. No artifacts with DX12 on my flights. But it doesn't help much or make much difference that I can see in the sim during flights between DX11 and DX 12. This is/was true with Windows 10 and Windows 11.

BTW, back when Win 11 was released, MS stated that it would be a free upgrade for at least a year. It was released early October 2021. Therefore it seems to me that perhaps it may not be free to upgrade to Windows 11 much longer. I didn't find any further info about that on the web.

The Q&A started out with Jorg saying 'so today we put everything on sale' (for the 2 year release anniversary). Aug 18-20.

Bargains.

I concur - let everyone tidy things up.  We know flightsim....there's always delays.  That's honestly just life.  I'm happy to wait!

I'm happy to wait, because I got the beta on day 1 and it works with no downside. The official release will only be a minor changes from the beta, so the official SU means little to me. I already have almost all the wonderful goodies already.

No problems with the delay here. Right now I'm on autopilot, heading north over New South Wales, and loving every MSFS minute. 🙂

Nice. The DX12 improvement was amazing and could immediately feel when they rolled it back. So I hope they hold SU10 until that's back in, in a working state.

At 23:20 (Matt Nishan, Working Title ) showed about 10 screenshots of the great new stuff in the G1000 nxi

After that he showed 1 screenshot of what the simple VFR map in the toolbar can now show you when clicking on icons:

Both nxiG1000 and VFR map goodies are in the beta already of course.

Is anyone actually surprised by this, or the ongoing issues with dx12? We saw a lot of these system resource issues pop up when P3D V5 was released as well as the trials and tribulations of Vulkan in XP11. Asking users to be responsible for using game settings realistic to their machine is just asking for trouble again…
