Sim Update 10 is postponed by two weeks (or possibly longer)

No problem for me to wait. Flight simming is supposed to be about flying anyway, so what's the hurry?.

Cheers, Ed

What is it saying about RTX 3060Ti? I have RTX 3060 only in my current gaming laptop.

Thanks

It's just showing how much the graphics card slows down with different DLSS qualities compared to non DLSS (TAA) anti aliasing. 3060 ti will probably be faster than 3060. All DLSS are faster (better) than TAA.

This is great news!! I'd much rather them take the time to get it right, then release a broken update that needs hot fixes. Thanks Asobo!

Exactly.  Far better for non-beta-testers to stay on SU9 for a while longer than to have to install a buggy forced update that renders the sim unusable for them for that time.

cheers 😉

Well to be fair the current SU10 isn't any more "buggy" than the Sim has been since release, the only major issue is that some people are experiencing performance issues,  where others have much better performance than in SU9. That's the main reason for the delay, trying to address that situation so most people get better performance.

Overall as it stands the latest beta build is better than the current SU9 for me, if it had gone live it wouldn't be a major problem personally, but I'm glad they're delaying it to give more time to deal with the aforementioned performance issues.

Isn’t the performance only varying for DX 12 users but not DX 11 users in the open beta? If DX 11 performs the same as SU 9 in the latest open beta build, it’s no better or worse than SU 9, since DX 12 is already pretty bad in SU 9.

Possibly, I've yet to really try DX12 myself as it bogs down so I'm mainly using DX11 hence the performance issues aren't that bad. Still any optimisation they make to the memory (as stated in last night's Q&A) should affect both DXs so everyone's a winner potentially.

Just before the Q&A, I was flying the default Bonanza with all graphics set to ULTRA and V-SYNC turned OFF.  DLSS was set to performance.  DX-12 was being used.  My system is a stock HP OMEN desktop 30L, with AMD Ryzen 5 5600G, nVidia RTX 3060, and 16GB RAM.  I was set up using all default except the Honeycomb bridge and the Fly By Wire A320 in my Community folder.  While my framerates were around the mid 40s while on the ground at the airport (KROA), they were running about 70 to 80 at altitude.  There was no stuttering or any other glitches.  Scenery was sharp (at 7000 feet) and the only complaint I might have is the blurring of the glass panels - which seems to have improved over the last few days - even without an update to the beta.  The FBW generally runs in the low 40s and drops into the mid to high 20s on the ground.  Overall, the SU 10 beta and updates to it have been as good as I have seen the sim perform.

I think it’s pretty apparent that the performance in the latest beta update has been decent for AMD and Xbox users, while those with Intel CPUs have experienced a degradation.

To be more specific, it is those with Nvidia GPUs that are not benefiting from the initial DX12 performance increases right?, due to Asobo having to pull out the memory optimizations/handling code due to graphical artifacts. And per the latest Dev Q&A session (see https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1565642019?t=00h11m55s), Asobo said they're working with NVidia and waiting on a fix from them.. which will hopefully come before SU10 release. I guess Asobo also mentioned some separate DX11 performance degradation which they're also working on and aiming to fix before SU10 release (not sure if that is specific to certain GPU/CPU architectures or not)

To be honest I'm not sure. I was speaking based on having read through a lot of posts on the official forums.

EDIT: One thing that does seem to be a clear trend, is that Xbox users are reporting much better performance in the latest build vs the first one.

Yup, I am running a AMD PC and the sim has never been better, Running DX12 since launch and it's made a hell of a differnce.

With my 2080 Super I had a much better performance with the first Beta build. The artifacts occured mainly when the GRAM was maxed out. Those artifacts varied from only minor graphical glitches on some runways to total loss of outside view (rarely). Performance now is more or less the same in DX11 and DX12. Still smooth without stutter. So I don't complain.

If postponing the update helps bringing the DX12 optimization back, I am happy.
