Sim Update 10 is postponed by two weeks (or possibly longer)

The fact that they delayed the update after beta testing because of reported issues is an extremely positive development.  It signals a shift in how they view these updates, and that they aren't going to hit that tick-tock cadence just to keep on schedule any more.  That's great.

They will steamroll ahead though and force the Sim Update if it’s one that Microsoft has spent significant money on marketing a release date. Such Sim Updates where they market a release date are SU5 (X-Box release), SU 7 [GOTY Edition), And SU 11 (40th Anniversary Edition).

SU 10 is not a special edition of MSFS where Microsoft has spent significant money marketing the release date so it can be pushed back. So Sim Updates Like SU 10 can be pushed back.

Did anyone hear anything on when they may finally release this now?

Labor Day Weekend in MSFS territory probably will not hear anything until after the holiday around the 4th 5th of this month.

The latest Roadmap has no date for SU10 now, so I guess it's done when it's done.

Honestly for me this is preferable to releasing it half baked.

That makes sense considering you've got a Ryzen CPU. I've returned to SU9 for now. I might join the beta again when/if they release a new update. The main reason I left the beta was that I couldn't get HDR to work (despite that they claim it should work with the latest update). It's not a big deal anyway. I've got the SU10 beta Official folder saved, so reinstalling is quick.

My HDR works if I alt/enter, move the screen, then alt/enter again.

How do you know HDR is working again after this?

Agreed. It's not like we have a completely un-flyable sim right now. I still enjoy my evening flights with SU9. Sure, it's not perfect, but to hear they're taking their time to ensure SU10 will be as close to perfect as it can be, certainly doesn't upset me, even with a delayed timeline. MS/Asobo are listening to us and not rushing updates out anymore, which I know, most of us remember the headaches that that can bring. In my opinion, I say, take your time, get it right, listen to beta testers and release the best possible update you can.

A lot of people list forced updates as a detractor to MSFS. Sure, I understand the forced part. However, the structure of the software doesn't allow to opt out. But, there's never been a time in the history of this genre, where we have had such frequent updates along with the transparency about what is expected in them. Additionally, there is a team with the financial backing and, at face value, the passion to want to advance consumer flight simulation, I think we're pretty lucky.

Take all the time you need. We'll be the ones that reap the benefits!

Haha… I’m doing this often during the loading screens and find it difficult to tell.

Here's what I do...I load the plane then take off. I fly towards the sun, then change the camera to external. Again, I look towards the sun...press ALT+ENTER, move the screen or resize...you should definitely see a difference when looking at the sun.

If you enable dev mode it will either say HDR or SDR in the upper right.  This works in the menu too so you can ten it on, check it out then turn it back off if you want while in the menu.

SDR to HDR is a big difference so if you are finding it difficult to tell I wouldn't think you are in HDR.
