September 19, 20223 yr I've been looking for a Diamond DA-62 for P3dv5. I can't find one compatible with this version. Will any of the downloads for P3dv4 work well in version 5? Carenado, for instance?
September 19, 20223 yr Carenado has a v5 installer available. Vertx can be coaxed into v5 with a pretty this simple registry edit. Jose A. September 19, 20223 yr Unfortunately the best DA62 out there right now is the MSFS DA62 with the freeware DA62X mod and the Working Title G1000Nxi. I had no fun with the previous sims Carenado DA62. The G1000 was not right and the panel was difficult to read. Wish you luck. September 19, 20223 yr Moderator The best DA62 remains the Vertx one developed for v4. But with a couple of Registry edits it installs just fine in v5 https://vertxsim.com I’m still flying it in v5.3HF2 Ray (Cheshire, England). I found out that there is no V5 update for Carenado. Carenado says there's no need because everything works and you just need to download it again. That's not true. I tried it with a Carenado DA-40 that I had bought in 2019. I re-downloaded it, and the cockpit is quite transparent. Stan
September 20, 20223 yr I’m still on v4 and slowly preparing to move to v5 and I can’t advise on v5 installiation though reports of successful installs make me feel better. What I want to do is recommend Vertx version. That thing is pure masterpiece. I bought it knowing there is no support and actually bought to support the author because of his objective reasons and since I have it I have had no need for support at all because it works perfectly. Stan You are right, there are no P3DV5 updates for any of the Carenado planes, but there is a single update for all of their planes with the G1000 here: https://carenado.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360046625614-Installing-Carenado-aircraft-in-P3Dv5 You have to run the update after each Carenado aircraft install. As has been mentioned, the Vertx DA-62 also works ok with a registry fix. John Specs: black box thingy with spinning fans, lights and a bunch of wires that go to screens with pretty colours and a keyboard with many keys. The black box thingy also has a push button activated coffee cup holder. John C.

I said they have a v5 installer but that was also incorrect. The v4 installer may work by pointing it to your v5 root directory, if not it should definitely work with the same registry edit. I own both and chose to install the Vertx. It's still selling on their website. But back to your original inquiry, both are compatible. Enjoy whatever choice you make. Jose A. I had to laugh when you said "simple registry edit". I just watched the video of this, and is by no means that simple in my estimation. There are quite a few steps to it and it is a bit confusing. I will continue to watch the video since I just bought the Vertx model, and I have no choice but to perform this edit.

It was more involved than a "simple" edit, you must admit. I really didn't laugh...I just felt that messing with Registry for me is always a concern. Question: Where do you point the plane during installation? It wants you to put it in a V4 addon folder. Should I put it there (even though I do not have V4) or should I put it into the V5 addon folder? Perhaps I should change the target to the P3dv5 folder.

The registry edit takes care of masking the v4 installation for you. You can install the plane wherever you like. I have it outside P3D folder altogether. Jose A. September 20, 20223 yr Moderator I don’t recall doing any Registry editing for the install. Just point it to your v5 folder. However, the utility program for configuring the aircraft oxygen etc. requires P3Dv4 Registry entries to exist. It’s a very simple matter to create a Desktop shortcut that edits the Registry directly. I have a second one that removes that entry as another program gets confused if v4 and v5 entries exist when only v5 is installed. I’ll post details tomorrow. Ray (Cheshire, England).
