I thought there was to be 2,000 of separation in the upper flight levels. This was more like 1,000 ft of separation.   I had to act fast to get this screen shot.  I was at FL360 with a GS of 400 knots in the Hjet. Did not quite see what the other type was, but man was that a super fast closing speed.  First time I have had this close of an encounter. His path seemed the exact opposite of mine and it was not on a published airway.  I was going direct from SPI to IRK.  I am not sure if the current WT G3000 provides audible TCAS alerts.

1,000 foot separation for opposite-direction traffic is standard in RVSM airspace up through FL410.

RVSM (1000 foot vertical sep) has been the norm for about 20 years now.

I'll tell ya it's interesting watching a jet approach with 1000ft separation. Looks like you are nose to nose. It is cool that as it happen, I've seen the RAD ALT momentarily pop to 1000 lol.

Very cool!  TCAS would have presented a nice warning.

And Frank, if the sim ATC was worth it's salt they would be required to issue traffic to each of you.
