October 12, 20223 yr I have not seen any MSFS2020 VR reviews yet, just those 1920x1080p screen test with extremely high frame rates. How does the DLSS3 work in VR mode? If not, what is then the benefit of choosing RTX 4090 instead of RTX 3090?

It doesn't - according to Wikipedia:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deep_learning_super_sampling#DLSS_3.0 Since DLSS 3.0 creates extra frames like VR motion reprojection already does, I would expect there to be issues when you have two technologies both working in the rendering pipeline at the same time trying to generate extra frames. 6 minutes ago, Kassu62 said: If not, what is then the benefit of choosing RTX 4090 instead of RTX 3090? Uhhh... It's faster than a 3090 even without DLSS3...?

In VR, can't be sure, but it'll probably be at around a 12 FPS difference without DLSS - so about ~$135/frame. If you ask me, I'd say it's worth it, especially with motion reprojection enabled. October 12, 20223 yr I ordered one, my 3090 just doesnt cut it for me in VR. its not unplayable but the experience could be better. October 13, 20223 yr A couple of 4090 models in stock in the local store here today. Love to hear some feedback

Curious what the difference between your 3090 and 4090 will be as your System is very similar to mine! I have decided to upgrade my CPU I9 10900k to AMD7900X. Hoping to increase some cores up to 5.5GhZ on my custom watercooling to let MSFS mainthread run at the highest core speed and the others my be turned down a bit. I had a 4090 ordered....but I cancelled it..... Regards, Marcus P.
October 19, 20223 yr Rumour mill says there are some cheaper versions of the 4090 due out in early November, at least in Australia. Maybe the non OC versions?

I had a 4090 ordered....but I cancelled it..... The difference is massive in VR, worth every penny if you sim as much as I do. I went from TLOD 100 and 100% resolution in openxr to 200% resolution and 300 TLOD. I was getting 22.5 FPS limited by reprojection. Im at the point where the sim is totally cpu dependent now with a steady 30 fps with reprojection in VR because of the CPU. Without VR I am at a steady 50 fps in new york with those setting with only about 60-70% gpu usage, the main cpu thread is maxed out. I wish the 4090 had more VRAM though, because I have come very close to maxing out the 24GB of VRAM with 300 TLOD, and 200% openxr resolution in New York City for example. Without VR it only uses about 14GB of VRAM. All of this is with the pmdg 737 by the way.
