Have you actually tested this using CapFrameX? It looks like you have a 4090. I am not seeing the smoothness but I don’t know your AI settings. The 1% lows are still really bad from what I tested earlier. Yes the counter says 54 FPS but the frame consistency is worse and the DLSS 3 (frame generation) puts more strain on the CPU not less. I am all for retesting to help others out. Smoothness can be a personal thing but CapFrameX produces a variances report that’s the best we have for “smooth” quantified.

IMO the distortions are not game breaking - in fact I expected it to be much worse based on Travelrunner's early assessments. It's hard if not impossible to rationalize spending this much money on a GPU. So far I've refrained from commenting on the financial aspect of it. But flight simming is a huge passion for me and has been for a long time. It's my way of winding down from a hectic work life. So in a way, for me it made sense to make the "investment". No buyer's remorse here. 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 64GB DDR5

Perception is highly individual as you say. For me it's smooth enough although there's more stutters at heavy scenery like KLAX with AI traffic. Been using Asobo with FSLTL and FSLTL injector. Just found one result from an analog King Air flight KAVX-KLAX with DLSS3 at 4K ultra. Our criteria for "too high 1% lows" could be different though. 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 64GB DDR5

Definetly click on the variances tab in the lower right corner. That’s the timing between frames that better reflects stutters. A normal flight will be almost all blue. A stuttering mess will be orange and red. To your point it’s subjective but on the bell curve mostly blue is where the masses are. Would probably help people looking to decide if they want to invest in one.

This is from a short session with the Fenix parked at iniBuild's EGLL. A fair bit of orange indicating that the frame consistency is not that great? Would you be able to comment on these values? It seems it does up the FPS quite a lot in a very demanding scenario, but with the caveat of introducing graphic issues. Not game breaking sounds good in itself, but gaining FPS while degrading visual quality just isn't the real deal to me. @TravelRunner404 How bad were the graphic issues in VR?

You can see that the pie chart looks much better than the one you presented. In my experience I had lots of stuttering issues in these CPU bound scenarios with AI frame generation and the charts were a lot of orange and red and not much light blue. Basically that means it's not smooth. We all know what 40 FPS mostly smooth looks like in MSFS and below is what the pie chart looks like. If this scenario was 25 FPS and CPU bound it would look a lot like your pie chart. Basically it's showing that the AI frame generation isn't actually smoothing things out compared to what a regular 40 FPS situation looks like in MSFS. Again, subjective but as I said on the bell curve the majority will notice all that orange your are showing up there. In response to the above from threegreen, frame generation does not work in VR. It's only 2D mode. Edited October 26, 20223 yr by TravelRunner404
