Is anybody else excited about the new 20 KM CFD in SU11?

@blingthinger and @lwt1971. Can you both take your discussion / disagreement to PM please. Or just agree to disagree. There are others who wish to discuss this without having to cope with your bickering.

Exactly abrams, and I have been posting comparisons / critics here and at the xp forums, as well as you do, and although I do not have the same perspective on what you sometimes focus when talking about these sims, most of the time I agree with what you post because you try to write it in a polite way.

Sometimes we fail of course, but for me it is natural to bring comparisons, and it's actually good, unless you have my mental neural net and start uninstalling everything 🙂

As I have pointed out, I try to use just one sim, and I have to be honest and admit that I would like to be able to quit using MFS or XP12 and concentrate in only one of the two, but I can't because there are so more positive aspects regarding what I really appreciate in a flightsim on both platforms compared to negative ones that I have to be practical and fight this stupid tendency of mine for sim monogamy 🙂

While I have been enjoying XP12 better then any previous version of XP, I am also enjoying MFS a LOT better than any of it's previous versions, although I do recall like if it was yesterday the first time I loaded FS5.0a in a desktop at work, because by that time I didn't have a Windows desktop at home. WOW it was simply AMAZING!  Then many years after, I experienced that some sensation with MS FLIGHT, and now I am kind of living a daydream everytime I do an airline flight simulation in MFS, and think to myself that I couldn't even imagine I would be able to play with such detail in scenery and weather rendering 5 years ago.

I'll have to learn to enjoy both, and it's easy if I try to block my UNINSTALL OCD 🙂

I am so enthusiastic about trying SU11 40th with all of the GREAT aircraft that it'll bring, and at the same time so enthusiastic for instance regarding how XP12 is also progressing, and how dedicated the LR team is nowadays to work on new features and in ironing bugs and inconsistencies in the betas that instead of feeling bad about this or that sim I should rather be kissing my keyboard 🙂

Yes, I wish the XP users could be as civil as @jcomm!  I just want to say, jcomm and I had a very civil discussion about XP earlier in this thread. Jcomm was sensitive enough about this topic to then take the discussion further with me via private messages, because he didn't want to upset this thread.  Jcomm and I then had a very civil and courteous discussion via private messages about XP and MSFS.  It was all civil, and very informative.

I just wish some of the XP users could learn from jcomm.  It's fine to come here in the MSFS forum to discuss XP & MSFS, but just show a little sensitivity and be respectful.

Do you thinks Bob was being "respectful", considering you "liked" the post?

I can like a post without agreeing with everything written in it. I agree with the general sentiment in Bob's post that XP graphics is dated. I would have worded it differently myself, but yes, I do agree with the general sentiment of that post.

Also, that was posted here in the MSFS forum. Give or take, we may talk about other simulators in a way that is not as positive. And the same in the XP forum, posters there may talk about MSFS in a way that is not as positive, that is to be expected. But just be courteous and respectful when you go to other forums which isn't your main simulator, and be respectful there.

"So you think X-Plane is "pathetic".  When people read posts like that, are you expecting a civil response or a harsher reaction?  After all your previous few posts, about wishing X-Plane users can be more respectful, and you would love to have a civil discussion with them, as long as they remain respectful, you condone a post that labels X-Plane pathetic.  How do you justify that?"

Because this is the MSFS forum. Don't you understand? This is what you XP folk don't get.  You can talk poorly of MSFS in the XP forum (and a lot of XP users do, I see a lot of posts that do). That is your prerogative in the XP forum. This is the MSFS forum, so be respectful when you talk about MSFS here.

Facts about MSFS are fine, even if those facts don't make MSFS look good. But using certain type of language and phrasing, as I mentioned aleady, to rile people up is not fine.

Understood.  So when people like Murmur post topics like "The X-Plane difference", we can expect to belittle MSFS as much as we like, because we are in the X-Plane forums.  And you, and everyone else here, will respect that fact.  I understand you, perfectly. And I thank you for clearing that up.

From Murmur's post, what I gather, false information was being passed in the very first post Murmur made. People then had to correct the information from that first post that Murmur made.

When is posting false information good, in any forum?

I don't condone posting false information. And I don't condone false information here in the MSFS forum either, or any forum.  Thanks for bringing that post up.

Please stop spreading misinformation. Imagine, XP users came to this forum and designate MSFS users as trolls (in "their own forum"). And not enough, insulting them as being pathetic and "showing their sh.t". That would be rude - and is the reason why it didn't happen. But ... it happened the other way round, namely MSFS user(s) designating XP users (in "their own forum") as trolls etc.. Now, please tell me, who is really toxic.

Why do you XP users have to come here and cause all these problems? Maybe you can stay in your XP forum instead?

Ditto! And it didn't happen only once, what I described above.

Over and out.

I see misinformation in here almost every day.  This very thread has misinformation in it, which blingthinger corrected.  As was said earlier, if you are going to post opinions, which I see you do many times, we are going to post our own opinions.  I'm playing by your rules.  You want us to respect the MSFS forums.  You want to be able to post whatever you want about X-Plane.  This door swings both ways.

Yes, and I hope you also read Claviateur's post in the XP forum. It appears that Claviateur was a former XP user, and ventured into the XP forum, and this is what he thought about the XP forum here at Avsim:

Quote

Sadly, this is the weird feeling I was talking about... It's like a cult behavior... It's like let's find a little tiny thing in the other cult and make it a big issue..  What we have is ok...The same there is a big deal... And let's play down or deny things there because they do not serve our cult interest or agenda and let's twist things to make our cult always superior and feel good about ourselves in it...

No, I specifically cited phrases blingthinger used, which riled up the users in this forum:

I have nothing against the facts that blingthinger brought up.  Facts are fine. But he did more than use facts, he also started using phrases that got people upset, as I cited in the post above.
