The only reason is to exclude the addons in the community folder during diagnostic of any bugs/issues

This is a rumor that someone started a long time ago. Maybe it was Microsoft itself in relation to a very specific caste. Generally, leave the folder alone. That some addons might not perform as per expectations after an upgrade is another issue.
