Let's Give A Hearty Shoutout To Dakfly and MixMugz

Featured Replies

...the creators of the Longitude mod and the TBM mod, respectively.

Both of them worked dilligently across close to a dozen sim and world updates to make those planes eminently flyable and enjoyable

Let's remember that the Longitude was complete trash upon release, with a range of 20 miles or so. Nice visuals but basically unflyable. The WT G3000 mod improved the avionics, to be sure,
but this wouldn't have mattered without adjustments to the flight model.

Not much could be done with the Turpoprop logic on the TBM, but Mixmugzs (and other related mods) did what he could --> getting the doors to open was definitely a "boss move".

So, thanks again to these two (and the many other freeware developers, including WT) for giving us many, many hours of (free) simming and gaming enjoyment!

I understand that with the latest beta for avionics, these mods are no longer useable. I have been using them all along.

Apart from the new WT avionics updates which do look enticing (I am not on beta yet) are there accompanying flight model updates to the TBM and Longitude in the new beta to fix the flight models and performance characteristics? Do the TBM doors open for example?  If not, let’s hope these great modders are able to continue to work their magic on these new updated variants.

Oh my... I hope I still can get that thing up in the air with my knowledge of avionics... 🙄😚

Never used either apart from a first test flight, because they felt way unplausible in many respects, and I never installed the MODs either, but nw I will certainly give both a try.

One question - were those two talented "modders" the authors of this new ASOBO update?

No, the Working Title group provided these new avionics updates.

Maybe we later get a working mod back that opens the Doors for the TBM again ?

cheers 😉

Doors open just fine in AAU, no mod needed...

In the beta release notes I see they say they added “support” for doors opening on the TBM. Not sure if that means the doors now open by default or if a mod is going to be needed.

Yes Ricardo, but I meant the flight dynamics mods ?

I never tested any of the two. My only main problem with most prop aircraft in MFS, the TBM, the new C172 CFS-enabled and since yesterday the Strega again (it received an update yesterday with the beta, and I tried it again), is the almost total lack of plausible prop effects as you hit the throttle.

I believe/hope (but I am yet to try it) that the new beta does something for the TBM prop effects. Just yestreday after installing the beta from the xBox insider hub I fired up the Strega and took off, just to find out how tame it is reacting to full throttle on takeoff. Practically no need for rudder, and inflight while I do see the turn&slip showing some beta, truth is it doesn't correspond to the "feel of flight"... 😕  I have to try the  beta TBM - it's not those wonderful avionics but rather the lousy flight dynamics ...

If I understand the release notes correctly, the internal Turboprop model wasn't touched by WT.

If i remember correctly, the TBM doors were always modelled to open. In the initial release of MSFS, you could read in the model xml comments, partly in french, from the developer working on it, commenting something in the line of  "and now the doors are to be closed again". He simply commented out the part of the opening doors. The comments were removed in later versions.
That's why it was relatively easy to get the TBM doors to open. There were no changes necessary to the actual model.

Anyway the TBM Improvement mod is a great addition and i too am grateful to the people who made it.

And i hope that with the coming AAU's some more doors will be opened...Somehow it's very relaxing to open the door after a nice flight and here all the ambient sounds MSFS has too offer. :-)
