Stutters / Lag on Touchdown Only

Featured Replies

Hi there

I am having good performance with my 10850k and 3080 but when it comes to landing ( fenix a320 ) I get a stutter / lag spike as soon as the wheels touchdown. Sometimes it recovers and then another quick stutter follows.

I don't have anything else running in the background ( fsrealistic etc.. ) And i have tried various setting changes and a tip on the MS forums by disabling touchdown effect files, However nothing seems to of fixed it.

Is anyone else currently having this issue? Or does anyone know of anything i could try that i have not yet.

Thank you!

I get this but put it down to performance on my aging i74790k and 1070.  I run med-low settings at 1080P, only clouds on High.  It doesn't happen all the time, and sometimes doesn't happen at the same field every time either.  What are your specs and settings?

10850k no overclock, 16gb ddr4 ram, rtx 3080. I have settings on a mix of medium, high and ultra. I think clouds is only ultra so i dont think that affects it as its even on clear sunny days. I also have the airport ground vehicles low.

I get this. It varies from place to place and it generally happens to me @ 500’ on finals.

It’s frequency and the effect it has does seem to be dependant on whether I’m coming into a built up area but not always.

Flying in Japan seems spike free for some reason.

I really torture my 11 year old cpu and rtx2070 with this sim but this has only been happening since SU11.

Trying to solve this since recent few weeks. One or two stutters/grabs from 500 ft down,  through to mid rollout. Happens most airports so cant isolate a specific scenery. Very interesting havent isolated yet what the cause is but it came after SU 11 and also recent Nvidia driver updates. Rolled those back and fwd with no success. Will keep an eye on all your comments.

interestingly I experimented with all settings turned down to low/off and msfs actually performed worse.

I had this previously especially when flying the FSW 414. Deleting the WT GNS530 seemed to fix the issue for me. Reinstalled the PMS version from Github and it all seems good now

Every since SU11 this started happening to me as well. No amount of this on or off or this set to this or that made any change. You aren't alone and at the official forums it's talked about as well. Hopefully the next update will fix it.

Is it done yet? When will it be released? Will it be freeware or payware? How much will it cost? Any updates on the progress? Will it work for Xbox? Can I be a beta tester? How's the performance in VR?

Yep, it’s definitely worsened for me as well over time. Around 500ft and the stutters can really put me off my landing. So annoying. Oh and I’m running a 4090 so nothing to do with inferior GPU.

I think its a know issue since a long time. Seems to also depend on Internet Connection, MS Servers and Airport scenery.

I have experienced this in the past, but my approaches are smooth now. I'm fairly certain that the pause went away after I turned road traffic down to 10. I believe that is what loads up as you near the ground.

I seem to have my approach with rather good performance, It seems to only ever happen as soon as the wheels touchdown. I will try the road traffic setting and continue more testing. Its becoming very hard to pin point. Its like its loading something but i can't think what.
